Here are some of this weeks Country Music Highlights. Just a Dream makes it's debut on the charts:

It's good to see Lee Ann Womack back, & the new Gretchen Wilson song is really good. Maybe it'll be the one to get her back on track, she is in need of a hit badly.

Carrie is off vacation & off the beach at least temporarily & on to the fair circuit. Last night in Wisconsin.

Good grief that is huge. How do you shrink it in size?

    Re: Carrie Underwood

Billboard reviews Just A Dream. It seems to be getting hugely positive remarks across the board. And it is already inside the Top 40.

    Just a Dream

The fourth single from Carrie Underwood's double-platinum "Carnival Ride" finds the singer charting new territory. Previous singles have stuck to a similar lyrical theme, contrasting between Underwood's girl-next-door image with inspirational or family-centered songs ("So Small," "All-American Girl") and her naughtier bad-girl side ("Before He Cheats," "Last Night"). "Just a Dream" delivers the heartbreaking, storytelling side of Nashville with the kind of song usually reserved for vets like Reba McEntire or Martina McBride. Underwood convincingly sells the story of a young widow of a soldier killed in combat, using shades of her emotive vocal to convey anger and despair. While the subject matter is sensitive in this day and time—particularly for flag-waving country pundits—it is rooted in reality. Add Underwood's adoration by the format's listeners and there is bound to be an immediate and receptive response to this beautifully executed song.—Chris Williams

Here is the Music Row promotion for Just A Dream. You can listen if you click the link.

    Music Row

    “Just A Dream”
Producer: Mark Bright; Label: 19 Recordings/Arista Nashville

“Just A Dream” is the fourth single from Carrie Underwood’s second multi-platinum album Carnival Ride. It is the follow-up to her seventh consecutive No. 1, “Last Name,” an unprecedented accomplishment that makes her the only artist in country chart history to have their first seven singles all reach No. 1.

Carnival Ride hit the No. 1 spot in the Billboard 200 in October 2007 and garnered first week sales of 527,101—the highest first week for any female in any genre at the time of its release. A reigning CMA and ACM Female Vocalist of the Year, Underwood has also won three GRAMMY awards. In May 2008, she became the newest member of the Grand Ole Opry. Her headlining Carnival Ride Tour continues through the end of 2008.

    Add Date: July 21

Carrie recently spent some time in LA with family. Here she is at LAX flying to Northern Ca. for her concert tonight. Always with the million watt smile. It must be a weird existence to always have a camera pointed at you, but she seems to handle it well. This time around, however, there are body guards.

Here are the Country Charts highlights for the week. By the way, if anyone is interested, there is a pretty humourous video on youtube of Carrie singing I Ain't in Checotah Anymore. It is from her concert in Nor. Ca. last saturday night. Right in the middle of the song a bug flies down her throat. She can't stop laugihning long enough to sing.
