Here is a nice review from the Valentines day concert in of all places Hershey Pa.. Chocolate, Valentines Day, & Carrie all seem to go together. Click the link & there is a nice photo of Carrie & her electric guitar. She has been sick & she blogged to the fan club that she had to go to the Dr. while in LA for the Grammy's, but the show must go on. PS: What the reviewer calls Long Gone is actually Get OPut of This Town.

Underwood, Urban wow crowd at Giant Center

It surely was a nice combination to look at: attractive co-headliners Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban, who stopped by Hershey's Giant Center Thursday on their Love, Pain and the Whole Crazy Carnival Ride tour.

And it was just as equally terrific to listen to: a real Valentine's Day treat for those in love and those hoping for love.

"American Idol" winner Underwood was a tough act to follow. Entering up through the stage floor, which also boasted a long catwalk through the arena, in a white blouse, black pants and high black boots, Underwood powered through songs including "Flat on the Floor," a cinematic "Long Gone," a sassy "The More Boys I Meet" and a gorgeously haunting "Just a Dream."

She vanished and reappeared in a big blue full-skirted gown for a low-key "Jesus, Take the Wheel," letting it fully rip on later choruses. Big choruses suit her equally big voice, as "I Know You Won't" certainly does, but that beautifully tragic song also showcased her mastery of dynamic - she sang it almost like a torch song, fully inhabiting it and giving it a world weariness as well as power.

Another costume change, into jeans and a pink tank, for the nicely varied end of her set - the gutsy "Last Name," the punchy "Twisted" (which featured her effortless octave jumps), the appealing "All-American Girl," and thoughtful takes on "So Small" and the hypnotic "Wheel of the World." She closed with a wicked take on her Grammy-winning song "Before He Cheats," swaggering through the revenge tale with bravado.

As good as Underwood was, Australian star Urban had absolutely no difficulty proving why he's one of country music's real showmen, delivering an indefatigable, energy-filled set featuring barely a moment's pause and his superb musicianship.

He's a hopeless romantic who's not afraid to be vulnerable. But he's also got fabulous guitar chops, and he flexed both muscles throughout on tracks like "Once In a Lifetime," a driving "Where the Blacktop Ends," a sparkling "Shine," a rollicking "Faster Car" (with Urban on funky bass), and a really terrific acoustic take on "Raining on Sunday," which featured great crowd participation and Urban's stellar guitar and percussion work.

He showed off his own recent Grammy winner, the lovely but pointed "Stupid Boy," and ripped through "Used to the Pain" before taking the band to the small stage at the end of the catwalk for songs like a sweet "Making Memories of Us" and a raw "You'll Think of Me." He headed back to the main stage for still more -- a chugging "I Told You So," an upbeat "Days Go By," and an aching "Tonight I Wanna Cry," this time on piano (is there nothing he can't do?).

And let's not forget the foray into the crowd on "You Look Good in My Shirt," where he garnered hugs and roses but gave away his signed guitar to an incredulous fan.

Working his simple black T-shirt and jeans into a drenched mess, Urban's formidable instrumental prowess and unaffected, boyish charm made him a potent counterpart to Underwood's delicacy and femininity. They were each other's equal and male or female, they were wildly appreciated. And duly so.

She plays pretty well. Did you get a chance to see the Fashion Rocks Show were she played & sang with Lindsay Buckingham? This girl has had some great opportunities & had some shining moments with them. By the way she also plays piano.

Here is a list of the top albums on the Billboard charts in terms of longevity since 1997. Prior to 1997, an album stayed on the chart until it dropped out of the top 200. In 1997, the rule was added that an album dropped off the chart once it is more than 2 years old and drops out of the top 100. This year the rule changed to reduce the time from 2 years to 18 months. Since Some Hearts was still inside the Top 70 this week, it looks as though it is going to be around for a while yet to come.

Just for comparison purposes, under the old rules Dark Side of the Moon would be over 1,100 weeks.

151 Come On Over Shania Twain
148 Come Away With Me Norah Jones
138 Greatest Hits Guns N Roses
134 Wide Open Spaces Dixie Chicks
    133 Backstreet Boys Backstreet Boys
    133 Greatest Hits Kenny Chesney
    131 Fly Dixie Chicks
123 All The Right Reasons Nickelback
118 Yourself Or Someone Like You Matchbox 20
    117 Some Hearts Carrie Underwood
    112 My Own Prison Creed
    110 5 Lenny Kravitz
    109 N Sync N Sync
109 Songs About Jane Maroon 5
    108 High School Musical Soundtrack
    108 Surfacing Sarah McLachlan
    106 Beautiful Letdown Switchfoot
    106 Elephunk Black Eyed Peas
    105 Spice Spice Girls
105 Feels Like Today Rascal Flatts

    Re: Carrie Underwood

Carries will be making her second appearance this weekend (Feb. 23) on Saturday Night Live. The show is still a great opportunity for her to introduce herself & her music to a whole new audience. It was just announced yesterday & confirmed by her team late last night. Iím actually pretty surprised about this one, since it is right in the middle of her concert tour, especially considering she will be in Pittsburgh on Friday & Providence on Sunday.

    Re: Carrie Underwood

Last night in Wilkes Barre Pa. Carrie had her first show as a headliner as opposed to co-headlining with Keith Urban. As a headliner she has expanded her time on stage & also expanded her set list. So I would love everybody to go to youtube & type in the following phrase.

Carrie Underwood Live November Rain Paradise City

Watch her tear up some Guns & Roses & listen to the crowd response after. Rocker Carrie always works for the crowd.

    Re: Carrie Underwood

For the second week in a row both of Carries albums are in the Top 10 on the Country Charts. Carnival Ride comes in at #5 & Some Hearts is #8.

But, the incredible thing is that Carrie is the only artist with two albums inside the Billboard Top 50. Carnival Ride sees a 43% rise in sales ( getting back to the 30K level) & finishes the week at #28, while her performance of Before He Cheats on the Grammy’s causes a 45% rise in Some Hearts sales & the album ends the week at # 47 ( not to bad at all for an album 118 weeks old.)

Carrie Underwood's post-'Idol' career on fire

Since winning the fourth season of "American Idol" two years ago, Carrie Underwood has become a quick sensation in country music and beyond, and her success just continues to build momentum.

Underwood, who is coming to the Petersen Events Center in Oakland on Friday, has sold some 8 million records and won more than two dozen prestigious awards, including back-to-back female vocalist of the year wins at the Country Music Association Awards, and top female vocalist at the Academy of Country Music Awards last year.

Frank Bell, vice president of programming for Froggy 98.3, says Underwood, 24, is one of the three most-played artists on the station, and is currently the most popular female country singer out there. The station has played Underwood's songs some 6,000 times since she put out her debut single -- the smash hit "Jesus, Take the Wheel" -- in 2005.

Underwood, Bell says, is "young, fresh and immensely talented," but also a very nice, likeable person.

"Having met her in person ... I can assure you she's an absolute sweetheart," Bell says. "She's very down-to-earth and easy to talk to.

"She is one of those people who just seems to be comfortable in her own skin, and just has a great, mature perspective on everything that has happened to her," he says.

Jeremy Mulder -- the deejay named "Danger Frog" who does the afternoon Froggy shows -- says that besides Underwood's strong talent and incredible voice, a guy can't help but notice that she's an attractive blonde.

"She has great songs, she has a great voice, and she looks really good in hot pants," Mulder says with a laugh.

Michael McCall -- an editor for the publications put out by the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville -- says that although Underwood has achieved great crossover success into pop music, her Oklahoma roots give her a lasting country edge.

"I think she consciously decided to be a country artist; after 'American Idol,' she could have gone in any direction she wanted," McCall says.

"Jesus, Take the Wheel," with its Christian message about trusting and submitting to God, especially helped propel Underwood into the mainstream, McCall says.

"It certainly got her off to a good start," McCall says, "not just because of the vocal performance, which is outstanding, but it had a message to it that a lot of people related to."

Underwood's clean lifestyle and image -- in contrast to other young celebrities like Britney Spears -- also contribute to her success, McCall says.

"In an age where a lot of women are having problems in the media, here's a young woman that seems to have it together," he says. "That's been part of her appeal; people are drawn to that."
