I think the comment Bo made about it was just a bet with him and his mom is going to make him loose.

I'm enjoying this discussion. Thanks, pillbeam and libgirl, for some great posts. As a Bo fan, I've been a little worried about some people's reactions to Bo's comments. I hope it doesn't cost him votes next week. I didn't take his comments as arrogance, "not caring", etc., as I've read other places. I agree with so many of you who have posted here that Bo just seems like a very relaxed, "go with the flow" type, and one who genuinely loves music. It seems like Ruben had a very similar response when he was in the bottom 2 in season 2, but I don't remember people reacting negatively. As I recall, Ruben originally hadn't even intended to try out for the show, he just went along to watch out for his female bandmate while she camped out for the auditions.
Anyway, the voting seems so unpredictable on this show from week to week, so hopefully if Bo gives a knockout performance next week, things will turn around.

Oh Please. When LaToya was asked a similar question and commented that she thought everyone there was a winner, she recieved so much negative attention from many people on this board, saying that it showed she didnt want it that badly. But when Bo basically says that it doesnt matter to him if he wins or not, people think its cute and endearing. He could say anything right now and some people will still think its cute coming from him.

I also think the producers extended the show to give Bo a chance to show how well he can sing.
I agree. Also, it allowed Nadia and Bo to stand together during the final elimination which was a stronger visual for the audience with two of the earlier weeks' front runners ready for elimination. I think they use that #2 spot to try to encourage fans to vote next week for people they would like to keep in the show.
All in all, I liked the format of that elimination show the best of all four seasons of A.I.. Very cool that they were able to pick their favorite song of the season and showcase their highs before potentially exiting stage left. Better method and made for a more enjoyable Wednesday show.

Actually, I was just as happy with LaToya saying it. ... I don't like the whiff of desperation that comes from many contestants -- I have to win this or else! -- which I guess makes me a bad viewer of reality-show contests. I suspect that ratings come from watching people scramble and "up the ante" and all that.

In real life, I think that people who love what they're doing -- rather than craving the "success" or fame that might come to them from doing it -- are the ones whose productions generally please me most. That's true for me with both Bo and LaToya. When they say they love the process, I applaud.

Doesn't hurt that I think they're both fine singers whose love of the process helped them hone their craft, of course. ... If somebody I hated listening to said he/she was doing it for the love of the process, not the win, I probably would wish that person would get off my tv screen. ...

I love the guy and thats the vibe I get. He doesn't need to win this, he is so good as it is. I'd love to see him work with Clapton.
i agree libgirl2...he does seem to be the most "go with the flow" contestant on the show that isn't there for "the industry." i think that while the others love the music, they also really want to make it in the industry. i think bo just wants to perform music no matter what. i don't think he was being disrespectful at all last night, i think he is just very comfortable with himself as a person and knows that AI is not his life and that he is blessed to have a life without AI doing what he loves and being around people he loves. he really does seem to be the most comfortable with himself. the others have that competitiveness while he just does what he does. i am also sensing that all of this AI stuff is wearing him out. i feel that he and nadia's styles have kind of been squashed a bit with all of the "commercialism" going on around them that they have participate in. C'mon, how awful must if be to have to sing a cheezy group song and perform weak dance choreography (actually they aren't really doing that this year).

i think bo is respectful of his fans...he was just expressing that everything in his journey has been good and that life goes on...

I think Bo is a realist. It is all good. It kind of reminds me of a great old saying, "If you're going to fire me, do it before 3 o'clock because I don't want to go home unemployed". If Bo would have been booted, he (as a solo artist) or as lead singer (for his band) would have had a signed contract with a record company as quick as he's legally allowed (based on the AI restrictions he's signed). Win or lose, this show has launched major things for him (and his band). So, it is all good. Even if he doesn't win AI, he'll have his record deal and he and his band will be on tour, most likely opening for a band with a very recognizable name and a big following. Great exposure. Bo was right, it's all good.

I agree 100%....I am a huge fan and I've said almost from the beginning that I really don't want Bo to win the competition....2nd or even 3rd place would be fine with me....go on and fulfill his obligations with AI and then go back to being the rockin' Bo that he is and not feel smothered by his restrictions to being THE American Idol.....

I'm with you, bbnbama. I'm not ready for Bo to go this soon, but it seems it's better not to win. As you can tell by my screen name, I'm a big Clay fan, and it was hard seeing him lose 2 years ago. After learning about the AI contracts, though, I think it's the best thing that could have happened.

I sure wish I was more of a laid back and relaxed type. I think that's part of why I like Bo so much.
