Well, Randy and Simon chided 18-year old Carmen for her rendition of "Call Me." Simon said "You can't sing songs like that." (Why do I know so much about Carmen when I'm not a fan. :rolleyes ) Anyway, Lucy got a lot of flak from viewers for choosing that song so I see your point. I can't see Diana singing it anyway. I think Randy made a fair assessment that she was an "old soul" which leads me to believe she wouldn't like that song. She's always chosen classier songs, like "My Heart Will Go On", "Chain of Fools", "Ain't No Mountain." Plus no artist on American Idol has done well with it, though Lucy Hale did great on AJ.

I will fall off my chair if Tasia ever sings "The House that Jack Built" by Aretha. The song suits her to a tee.

I'm still hoping Fantasia will sing "God Bless the Child."

Or the original (and, IMO, best) 1973 version by Roberta Flack.

I luv the original version too!!!! I think it would be a great song for Fantasia

Strumming my pain with his fingers,
Singing my life with his words,
Killing me softly with his song,
Killing me softly with his song,
Telling my whole life with his words,
Killing me softly with his song ...

Is that the same Lucy that I was discussing with someone here a few days back (from American Juniors?). She had one of the best voices I've ever heard. Diana's song selection will be very important.

Along these same lines, Ellla Fitzgerald did an AWESOME version of Hey Jude. I could imagine Fantasia doing the same version with her own special twist. If you haven't heard Ella's version, you should try to ifnd it: it ROCKS

Yes. I too loved Lucy's voice. Unfortunately, I don't think the American Juniors are doing well. Maybe she can get a contract if the group breaks up.

I expect Diana to pick well. Though she hasn't been singled out by the judges for choosing good songs (except Paula), I think she's one of the few this year that have picked songs that complement her voice. I personally believe that some of the contestants, like Amy, would've done well with better song selection. Simon and Randy are usually too busy fighting about Diana's age to even notice.
