    Re: Clay Aiken

Well, the line above says my last visit was a little more than 3 years ago and after the email reminder to check out the Fort, my first internet forey ever, I thought what the heck!

Gris-how are ya!!! Good to read your posts and graycat you too.

Just read back over the last few pages and re-read some of the reviews for Clay's concerts this past tour. I think it was his best reviewed tour since the IT. Opened some minds I believe. I liked the references a few times to his "blue eyed soul" delivery. I was fortunate to see him 6 times including Philly, the Greek, Pala, Newark, Candangua, and San Diego.

    Some relevations for me:
These Open Arms-this song had not been a favorite of mine until I heard him sing it. I absolutely loved what he did with it live and now I go straight to that song

I grew to love the TV medley-he sounds exceptionally rich on so many of the songs, including Perfect Strangers. It is not that I like any of the songs, it is the richness of his voice that comes through.

Not so much a relevation but a reminder: his wit. Many great exchanges in these shows but my favorite (at least now) was the "Now I'm a man" in Philly.

Clay's voice is cracking. He says:

    I'm going through puberty.

(Then throwing his arms up in the air, looking towards the heavens) Finally!

And you can say you were here to see it happen.

(He takes a swig of some beverage, and makes a little belching sound or something. Looking down and to the side-great profile incidentally-he says in the lowest, deepest voice)

    And now I'm a man.

I have a question to throw out. In a meet and greet he mentioned (about the Christmas shows) that Jesse has ideas about a sound, and approach but Clay said that is not what people come to associate him with so they won't be going there). Do you have any idea what the Jesse "sound' might be? What Clay is talking about concerning his own sound that fans have come to expect?

I found this and other information from the M&Gs fascinating.

Edited for many spelling and grammar mistakes-still waking up!

And they say those "die-hard fans" are a myth!

That doesn't surprise me, but maybe Clay needs to think a bit more about how something he does in concert, before the already-'Clayverted', is going to be framed by the press.

    I sure wish I knew.

I hope whatever "sound" he's eschewing is not one that I - and the bulk of contemporary critics - love.

All I can say is, Clay has often done something that thrilled and chilled me to the bone and then - for whatever reason - never done it again. Aarrggh!

the press was actually really nice to him in this tour..they seemed to love it, a lot of them said it was fun...so not so bad.

Reviews for Clay's 2007 summer concerts have been 99% positive . These Open Arms, loved this song on his cd and he was great on it in concert.

He doesnt host his own show, its quite possibly that he didnt know how it was done and needed some seasoning...he was teasing kelly and she obviously doesnt have a sense of humor, non clay fans who watched the show that it was a riot...its a shame that Kelly didnt feel the same way, because I thought that both of their jabs back and forth were hilarious and made for good tv. Its unfortunate that Kelly had to get sensative and make a big stink about it.

What I am seeing is arguments changing though...first I noticed it was all about the hand thing, so we posted a picture of kelly covering regis mouth, then it was ok cause hes her equal..so we mention that Simon Cowell did the same thing, and then it turns into being more about the whole thing then the hand thing...
Yeah you know i agree...Kelly really shouldn't have made such a big fuss...i veiwed the clip online and Clay didn't do anything wrong...for heaven's sake Kelly was joking around with him...what she can't take a joke?...sheesh if you can't take a joke then don't joke around...hey i would have loved to have Clay's hand over my mouth...lol...anyway...if you can't take it don't dish it

Wow...it's been a while since i have been here...lol...i need to update information on this thing...lol
