LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Kelly Clarkson, Justin Guarini and Tamyra Gray aren't the only ones who launched their careers on "American Idol."

Kristin Holt, a semi-finalist on the show last summer, will be back for "Idol's" second edition in January. Instead of singing, however, she'll join Ryan Seacrest as a co-host of the show. She replaces Brian Dunkleman.

Holt, a Texas native and onetime Dallas Cowboys cheerleader, returned home after not making the final 10. After hearing that the show was still without a co-host for Seacrest, she says she decided to give the producers a call.

I don't even remember the name....
I was wondering if they would go for a female co-host. I'm not sure if it was a smart move to have a former contestant though... I guess maybe we get insight?

At least it isn't tameeka or whatever her name was.

Oh, God...I remember her, and she was awful. During the show featuring her group of 10, Simon gave her a pretty harsh assessment of her performance (and she deserved it). Then, when she went back into the waiting room and talked to Seacrest and Dorkleman, she tried to get all ghetto (with the head bobbing, etc.) and said something to the effect of, "Simon should have noticed that trash can by the door, because that's where we leave our attitudes (*snap snap snap*)!"...whatEVER

    I remember her too now!
I can not believe that in the great big world of TV personality wanna-be's they couldn't find some-one better.
I realize that I'm being harsh considering I haven't seen her in "co-host" mode, but my God, from what I remember of her....

Sher... I look forward to reading your opinions on her!

If they were looking for a female co-host who might have had first-hand knowledge of the whole process, there were better choices for them out there than her....like, um, TAMYRA GRAY, perhaps?

    She's awful.
She can't sing for shit in my opinion and she certainly isn't attractive.
She came across as a bit of a beyotch while on the show.

As I said in another thread, she's the one that went to thank the judges for advancing her to the next stage and fell and slid up to her waist under their table.
That was when she really peaked.
