Speculation is starting. Aretha Franklin has stated she'd love the job. Rumors were swirling before JLo and Steven dropped out that Adam Lambert has been in talks with AI to be a judge. However, this article has commentary from Nigel and Adam that indicate he has not been approached. And as far as Aretha goes, the article makes a good point about the average age of the viewers getting older. So they may want to go with somebody younger.

I'm curious if Kelly Clarkson would do it? I assume Duets won't be renewed. But she seems to want to be more involved in helping the contestants rather than just judging them.

I think Kelly Clarkson has burned to many bridges. She was one of the first to oust 19 as her management team & if you notice she is never invited back to perform on any night other than a finale.

I am thinking maybe people other than "stars". Jimmy was so popular and is a behind the scenes man. Would they do better with a PR person, a stylist, a song writer ( Kara can't count)... at least some people like that?

That's an interesting concept. Ever since that whole Adam rumor broke, there have been a lot of people that would love it & a bunch of people that would quit watching all together. I think Adam is perhaps the second most polarizing person from this show ever, right behind Fantasia. And, it isn't so much Adam as it is the way his fans treat other people across the blogosphere. The Glambots have turned a bunch of folks off to the guy.

Aretha Franklin has evidently thrown her name into the mix & I even saw Charley Sheens name being floated.
