The stooges (oops, I mean judges) made a huge deal out of Phillip's boring coronation song, standing O and all, and inexplicably there was a marching band in the middle of it. Now Jessica's fans will be mobilized to vote like crazy, so I predict a win for her.
While I did not think that song was standing O worthy, it was the best I can remember ever hearing for an Idol's potential new song. Phillip did so much better tonight though I imagine most voters had their minds made up before these performances.

I am on my own here, apparently - I was liking the show! I thought they both sounded good, as far as I got before I had to switch to DWTS to see if my Donald wins. I started Idol late, but loved the first two songs. I heard Jessica start the "winning" song and it was a bit rough. Now I'll have to go back to it later and finish.... Enjoy, all!
Lest I sound too critical, I thought Phillip's song fit him well. It had a real throwback feel to it -- kinda reminded me of a Paul Simon song or something of that ilk.
Beats the year they made Jordin Sparks and Blake Lewis sing the same song, and wouldn't let Blake change it up. Which was disastrous for him.
