OK I really, really do like Paul, but listening to that sounded like Rod Stewart on helium. Towards the end it was much better than the beginning, thank goodness.

I wanna hear him sing Speak to the Sky by Rick Springfield,

Just went and listented to this song, I can't believe I've haven't heard this before. Agree...It sounds like something he should be singing.

ETA: I can't believe Rick Springfield is 61!! He still looks fab How old am I again?

Me too, although hate is too extreme. Maybe if he were singing different songs more suited to his voice? He is unique.

I wouldn't call it love/hate, but I do have mixed emotions about him. I love his quirkiness, but vocally he is not always the best.

Without the herky, jerky movements, he does fit nicely into the Alt. genre. His voice is unique to Idol as far as I remember and it fits in with his genre. I think his performance (voice/movement) would be better appreciated if he found himself a stool and sat.
