We agree. The comments on camera by the judges have been pointless. I do think in the time they are wasting joshing each other or Ryan or mooning over yet another soulless performance by Lauren, they could squeeze in a few constructive comments. As far as I remember, tho, the judges are not permitted to give advice off camera to the contestants until the show is over (Paula got into hot water for that in an earlier year). It's really the mentors who are hired by AI to serve the advice role. I think Jimmy did his sincere best with all of the contestants. It was up to the kids to take advantage of it--or not.

"Tons of surprises, but it wouldn't be 'American Idol' without it, would it?" Cowell told MTV News. "At the end of the day, I could go out and find 12 great singers, but that's kind of boring. The fact that there's people there who shouldn't be there makes it 'American Idol.' "
Isn't that the truth! Steven has done nothing but drool over the contestants--especially the girls--for the entire season. I would take him as seriously as Paula.JLo was doing the same until last week, so it was absolutely stunning to hear her and Randy finally saying something that a lot of people were thinking. Yes, Randy went over the top comparing her to MJ and saying she was worse than the others. However, his and JLo's basic point was true: she sounded terrible and it was a lousy choice of song.
Somebody mentioned Adam not doing well. Adam Lambert? From what I've read, he's been one of the most successful contestants post-Idol.
Maggie: "While she takes care of the men with the guns, why don't you sit down and I'll make you a nice, hot cup of tea?"
Pan Am stewardesses: prepared for anything!
I agree - Steven really hasn't been much of a judge. He's just been there for our entertainment really. Rarely has he said anything negative about the contestants.
No, Adam is not one of the most successful contestants post-Idol. Certainly not in terms of air time on the radio. “Whataya Want From Me” reached #9 of the Billboard Hot 100 awhile ago, but that's been it. Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Daughtry - now they've been the most successful contestants post-Idol. Adam can't compare at all. At least up to now. Maybe that's why Adam is so insistent in putting his 2 cents in regarding the current contestants - that's the only way we know he's still around.
- I hope Adam gets some new stuff out soon so he can stop obsessing over AI this year. Plus, I really did like his one song that hit the charts.

Right, I agree. I was thinking more of Jimmy and whoever is doing the mentoring giving the advice than the judges. The judges are only there for entertainment value. I have actually heard the judges give some constructive advice this season, but there never has been much of that on this show regardless of who the judges are. It would almost be better to mute the part where the judges are talking, or at least just ignore it, as I think the contestants should do.

He wants the same name recognition as Led Zeppelin has. Yes, yes, he does.
Alice @ 107.7JAMES DURBIN GETS HIS OWN HOMECOMING, SAYS HE'LL GO THE DAUGHTRY ROUTE
[]
Meanwhile, James is already making his post-American Idol plans. He says he's "definitely" going to go the Daughtry route and form a band, not just be a solo act. He tells ABC News Radio, "I wanna be one of those prestigious band names like you never forget." He adds that he wants the kind of name recognition that Led Zepplin has, but as of yet, he hasn't come up with a name for his future legendary ensemble. "I'm open to suggestions," says James.

Oh, people, he's just a kid.... remember yourselves at that age? We all want to conquer the world and think we can do it. I do think he should go the Daughtry route and do a band. I counted the other day in a 2 hour span I heard Daughtry 6 times on my radio (different stations).
"To err is human, to arr is a pirate"
Nah, he's not a kid. All three contestants left on the show are younger than him. Also, Casey Abrams who was voted off earlier is only 19 and he hasn't made any statements hailing his own magnificence or claiming that he will "force radio" to play his genre of music.Durbin uttered that gem in his exit interview. I think he's just delusional and a legend in his own mind who bought all the hype the judges were lobbing at him. A rude awakening awaits.
