Ryan Seacrest has been with "American Idol" since day one, but it sounds like he may be getting ready to leave TV's No. 1 show. Not only that, he could be gearing up to give it some competition.

According to The New York Post, the reality competition host is in talks with NBC to create a new singing show to go up against Fox's "Idol."

"It is a bit more fun. It's not contestant competitive. It's artist competitive," Paul Telegdy, NBC's head of alternative programming, told The Post.

This is crazy, that would mean there would be AI, The Voice, X Factor, Kara's new show now maybe this. Can't people come up with new idea's that do not involve a singing contest? Idol is still the best show, they just need to pick better talent & stop worrying about the girls looks & tell the judges to start telling the contestants the truth about their performances.

This Week's Superstar American Idol Mentor Is...

Sheryl Crow is gonna have some fun as a guest mentor on this week's American Idol.

E! News has learned that Crow will join previous season 10 celebrity mentors Will.I.Am and Miley Cyrus (and "style mentor" Gwen Stefani) when she sits beside Interscope Records honcho Jimmy Lovine on Wednesday's show as the final five contestants prepare for their performances. "The show wanted Sheryl because she is a true singer-songwriter and she wanted to help them develop as artists," says an Idol insider.

There was no immediate comment from Fox on the Grammy winner's appearance.

But Crow, 49, wasn't always a fan of the hit competition show.

"Let's face it, it undermines art in every way and promotes commercialism," Crow said in a March 2007 interview on MSNBC. "I am sad people love it so."

Sounds like someone's changing her tune.

It is sinking and I among many, many others predicted this would happen when Simon left. It began with Paula leaving and it is in its death spiral now. If Ryan leaves that will be it.
