Crystal: She was correct to choose a "smaller" song this week cuz she's got to provide some variety on that stage after many weeks of competing. Crystal did a good job with it, though the pacing was awkward at points. Crystal was clever in assembling the band behind her, looking like she had traveled with them for years. She had a short duo performance with her one female backup singer, and that was cool, too.

Siobhan: I actually liked the singing, but the dancing and running around was distracting.

Lee: As usual, loud squawking and off key. And his timing was off, too, making it impossible to enjoy the rhythm and melody of the song.

    Mike: Fantastic voice but boring.

Casey: Serious rock/pop artist and excellent performance, but a boring song. I agree with TopCat, the visuals were awful with him sitting in the middle of the audience. A ballad like requires that the focus be only on the performer. Casey should never have shared the stage with dopey chicks in the audience.

Aron: I remember hearing his pleasant voice while I was falling asleep. I honestly don't remember the performance.

"Tons of surprises, but it wouldn't be 'American Idol' without it, would it?" Cowell told MTV News. "At the end of the day, I could go out and find 12 great singers, but that's kind of boring. The fact that there's people there who shouldn't be there makes it 'American Idol.' "

Its funny how people see things differently. I've thought all along that Aaron seems very comfortable on stage and looks like a seasoned performer already to me. He's only awkward while he's receiving the judges critiques - and not nearly as bad as Archuletta was (and still is).

I had to work last night & just now got to see the show. Here is something many may not know.

There was a girl with long red hair that played Mandoelin & sang harmony for Crystal & the same girl played fiddle for Siobhan. Her name is Megan Mullins & she is one of the most incredible musicians you will ever see. She plays absolutely everything that has strings. 3 years ago at CMA Music Fest she was voted best fiddle player of the week & that was they year that Charlie Daniels opened the week. At one point during her set, she said "Here's something you may not see at a Country concert," & she proceeded to play classical music on the violin, then all of a sudden the band joined in & the song morphed into an incredibly nasty blue grass stomp..Megan tore the strings on the fiddle apart she was shredding so hard.

She was born with perfect pitch & she tells this story on herself.

When she was 5 years old, she & her Mother were in a music store checking out all the instruments. While the salesman was talking to her Mother, Megan went over to the wall of guitars, banjoes, fiddles, manolenins etc. & started to pull them down & plunk on them. The salesman was concerned & asked her Mother to ask the kid not to play with the instruments. Her Mother responded, " Leave the kid alone, she is tuning your instruments." At the age of 5, she was tuning all the instruments in the store with nothing more than her ear & perfect pitch.

She gave her first professional concert at the age of 3, she is a classiclally trained violin player & I'll say it again, she is one of the most talented multi instrumentalists you will ever see. If you ever get a chance go see her.

Boy, I hope not. I'm not sure the show will be worth watching without Crystal.

TPTB say that Crystal had an off night, I remember Carrie having a couple herself and the judges calling her for it. I liked Crystal, I got what she was going for. I thought it was perfectly fitting for the song.

I used to like Siobhan, but not so much anymore. Give me quiet and little as opposed to the power note. She can do it, but it doesn't always fit in the song.

It's obvious tonight the judges were trying to prop some up. Geesh, why do I put myself thru this every season. It's about this time that I get extremely frustrated and swear I won't watch next year.
Reverse psychology? Crystal you weren't good, the masses vote.... Siobhan (or whomever) that was great, the masses assume she is safe?

I enjoyed Crystal's performance. It wasn't big, it wasn't showy, but she was going with the theme and told the story the song was about. I'll take that over Siobhan's shrieking for no reason any day. Lee is growing on me. Hope Mike goes.
    Count your blessings!

Crystal fans remind me of Kate fans. They will defend that person no matter what. It could be something good or bad. Do you agree?

Kate = Katherine McPhee? I am still nursing my ears from the injury caused by her and Taylor Hicks' singing their duet The Time Of My Life in the finale. Talk about double whammy!

I can't understand what he's singing 95% of the time. Others on this show have been criticized mercilessly over not enunciating, why not Mike? Is it because others know the songs he's singing and I don't? He's the only one this season I have problems with.
