I like Casey's energy. I like him for the first time. Surprisingly good performance.

I LOVED Casey tonight! I have to agree that that was his best performance in a long time.

Yeah, I love Ellen, but am not enjoying her as a judge. Her humor seems so forced. At the risk of sounding shallow, her lighting and makeup people on her own show make her look really good (a la Oprah), but she looks older and painted on Idol.

Shhh I think you have Simon's fiance to blame for that... she does the makeup for the show...

I thought this was a great performance by Casey -- totally agree with Randy and Simon on this one!

I'd rather he stand right there in one spot,if that's natural to him, instead of some forced meandering across the stage. Lots of artists stand and sing and let their talent work for them.

I can't keep a consistent drool if he moves around stage too much :

Michael Lynche – Ready for Love

Mike goes back to using the acoustic guitar. Interesting choice for R&B night. And he is shopping in the women's department, as Paula would say.

He's performing behind the judges - which I've never seen before. It's proving hard to get good camera angles that deep in the audience. And it's a good performance. Strong vocal, as always - and having the guitar in his hand prevents the cheesy gestures that plagued previous performances.

Randy: Good job - low key and sensitive.
Ellen: Hate it when people sing behind my back. Beautiful.
Kara: Tasteful, lovely - hit the true emotion of the song.
Simon: First time I can take you seriously as an artist. I believed that performance.

I remember Casey once saying he grew up without tv. I'm sort of thinking that might have kept him from developing some affectations that some of the others have had. As cute as he is, I really don't think he plays it up or poses for the camera much at all.
