Song choice is such a confusing critique. It really gives the contestants no information to go by. At least throw them a bone and tell them a song or two to go by. Yeah, the rights won't clear for them to sing it, but it gives them "something" to go off of.

Crystal is great. Ryan asks her about conflicting judge advice and "who do you listen to if you get through" and she has the BEST (and most concise) answer: "me".

Versus lil' Katie, who gets the SAME question and who rambles on nonsensically (and unintelligently). Something about "whatever feels right to me, which is pop and R&B, but I will also give Simon's advice a try, and I will talk for a little while longer and sound like I have something to say..." I dunno. I mentally tuned out about halfway through whatever it was she was trying to say.

And to rub it in even more... lil' Katie isn't safe. (But then a moment later is er... re-safed by Ryan)

the judging has been all over the place, but the PERFORMERS are to blame.
