8 minutes and no contestants yet! Yikes!
Looks like Lee is up first with The Letter.

"How do you know the chosen ones? No greater love hath a man than he lay down his life for his friend. Not for millions, not for glory, not for fame... for one person. In the dark. Where no one will ever know or see." - Sebastion, Babylon 5
Lee DeWyze – “The Letter”
Well, it's a personal best for Mr DeWyze - I'm glad he got out from behind the guitar. But the singing problems are still there on the sustained notes.
Randy: Knocked it out of the box
Ellen: Like a favorite pen - you're back.
Kara: You've raised the bar for your performances. Progress is tremendous.
Simon: Not a recording performance. Quite corny; sounded good; but does not define you as a contemporary recording artist.

I can't help it; I see Gokey when I look at Lee.
Lee: Not bad. Not great. A little bothersome when he holds the word "wrote".

When you throw a rock into a pack of dogs, you know which one you hit by the one that yelps!
Much better stage presence from Lee, but the singing isn't working for me tonight.

I think Lee is doing pretty damn good.
WTH is Ellen babbling about?
Does Ellen stay awake nights coming up with these analogies?

Timely b/c of Alex Chilton's death (singer of this song). Complicated time signature.
Ellen was about her screen-time.
That was an average performance and vocals from Lee. I thought I was on a dinner cruise ship circling the bay.It didn't have star zing.
