The pattern I am talking about began at 10 pm eastern when voting began.

So here's another thought. If you are going from zero to full blast, as this chart does, when it rolls around to 10 est, then you are going to see a serious upward move at first & then it'll level out.

That is how it usually works. The highest reading of the DI score is usually a point in the first 30 minutes. And then it goes down from there. All the curves usually peak at the same time and have a similar curvy shape. This season the graphs look completely different. Contestants are peaking at different times.
I think this is because DI only has half the users as it did last year or maybe the dial idol formula needs to be changed to reflect the new demographic.

AI probably got more phone lines so there are less busy signals now, which makes DI less effective as a predictor.

Also factor in the fact that more people are texting their votes nowadays.

Unless they factored that into a new formula, that wouldn't be the reason the system cannot make a prediction at all. It would certainly be a reason DI would make an incorrect prediction though... if it ever made a prediction at all.

I really think they added more phone lines because every time I have called I only got the busy signal one or two times in the 10-20 times I called. Or there are way less people calling in because no one cares...

Another VFTW Victory! They suck man! Even though Paige was really bad the other night, she can sing much much better than Tim. Tim should have gone home thanks to VFTW which is actually relevant this year because from the very beginning of the season, they have successfully help Tim make it every week. Booting out Joe, John, Alex, Lacey and now Paige.

Take heart. Tim actually was in the B3, and for the 2nd week in a row. I agree that VFTW is keeping Tim around longer than he should be - but so are teenage girls who adore him.

HOWEVER - VFTW was not successful in keeping Haeley around. She was their choice for the girls during the semi-finalists round. I was sure VFTW would get her to the top 12. They failed.
