Oh, you've GOT to be kidding me! How seriously can you take a "mentor" like that? Nothing against her personally. But a mentor should have years of experience under their belt and lots of wisdom to share. Did she tell them how to become a child star and get your own show? Of course, it helps when you have a parent who has a big name in the music industry. It's a little late for any of the contestants to get one of those.
So, if I'm understanding correctly, they have changed the theme from Teen Idols to Billboard #1 Hits, but they're having a teenage mentor? Someone must've gotten the original memo confused!![]()
Please tell me you're joking!Originally Posted by Little Sew&Sew;3860195;
Miley's the one who needs a mentor - and not a marketing guru (she has that in spades). This is a family site, so I'll hold back my rant, but having Miley mentor Siobhan and Crystal is like asking Taylor Swift to give voice lessons to Carrie Underwood.

Miley Cyrus is younger than most of the contestants! How can she mentor them? Especially when she sucks herself.
Anyway, here are some of my ideas for theme weeks:
- First Audition Songs
- Metal Week
- Smooth Jazz
- Frank Zappa Week
- Songs Over 5 Minutes (all songs picked have to have been over five minutes in their original versions)
- Comedy Week
- Behind The Veil Week (contestants are never shown, you have vote just based on how they sounded)
- Instrument Week (everyone must play an instrument while singing)
- Songs Written By The Judges (all songs picked have to have been written or co-written by one of the four judges)
- Cult Classics
- Punk Rock Week
- Rap Week

This article just about sums it up IMO.
Miley Cyrus mentors the top 11; Joe Jonas is back to perform Wednesday | American Idol
I know most of you are already doubled over in pain and possibly gagging from the news in the headline above but yes, Miley Cyrus is the mentor for the top 11.
I’m sure Crystal Bowersox will learn oodles from Miley, eh? And faint when she sees her! Seriously, Miley has had a successful teen career so far with No. 1 albums, a few hit singles (”Party in the USA,” “The Climb”), movies and big-time TV show on Disney “Hannah Montana.” For a 17 year old, she’s had a pretty impressive run so far.
But can she mentor? I have no clue. Perhaps she can teach them about stagecraft because a lot of them clearly are not yet up to speed on that front.
So even though the theme was changed from “teen idols” to Billboard No. 1’s, the concept of teen idols remains because on Wednesday, the Disney dynamos Cyrus, Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato will be performing.
This is clearly a desperate attempt to draw back the teens and 18-34 year olds that have been leaving the show in droves the past couple of years.
And before Miley, has anyone even remotely as young as she been a mentor?
That was my favorite from the list!Originally Posted by scruffy;3860316;
