Re: Adam Lambert - Season 8
I think he's exceptional!!! Fabulous! Great stage presence, great voice, love the attitude, and the persona. I think he's definitely got what it takes to be a big star. It's ok that he's not everyone's cup of tea. No one is. But this guy should have a huge career ahead of him!!!

He had not had a record contract/deal before the season began. Carly and Joanna had...

I feel the same way. He just comes across as overly produced to me. Like you, I could not point to exactly why that is. It's just the gut reaction I have every time that he performs. I watch him sing and don't have much of a reaction. I'm expecting the judges to say "good, but not great", and they rave about how amazing he is. I can't sit there and say "oh no he isn't, he was terrible!" but I don't "get" the praise either.
I THINK that for me, it may come from his look just not matching his personality as it comes across to me. He's got the look of a rocker, but his personality, the songs he chooses and the way he performs them, doesn't come acros to me as rocker. It's almost like he looked at things and said "David Cook was successful last year, I'm going to make myself out to be like him" ... but he's not. I recognize that it's not fair for me to declare him ungenuine, because I don't the guy. But taht's how he comes across to me.
Re: Adam Lambert - Season 8
He's definitely a polarizing guy ... love him or hate him. I really enjoy him, partially because I like his voice and partially because of his stage presence and because he is so different. It would be a good thing to shake up the establishment that is AI, IMO.
It'll be interesting to see where the public vote will lie when/if the pictures floating around the internet become more mainstream. I'd like to think it won't matter what his sexuality is, but you never know...
Re: Adam Lambert - Season 8
I got a quick look at his folks in the audience and I know his dad was an actor at some point. My brain says it's Kent McCord from Adam-12 (coincidence?) but his son's name is Michael. I looked up his photo (Kent's) and it sure looks like the man in the audience, but I did not get a long enough look unfortunately.
Re: Adam Lambert - Season 8
Up until last night I wasn't really liking Adam at all. His voice and all the hype he had recieved didn't match up with the way I percieved his performance. Last night, though, I thought that he was excellent. Maybe it was because he toned it down a little and wasn't as over the top as normal.
He still isn't my favorite, but he is longer on my immensely dislike list that he had been on up until this point.

Loved his song, but I get that same feeling about his stage persona. It leans a little toward the theatrical side to me. Remember Constantine? Wannabe rocker but other sides to him also. Has Adam had any theatrical training?
Re: Adam Lambert - Season 8
For me, Adam is lost from a musical identity perspective. I have no idea who this guy is from his music. Whereas, as Paula says, you know where Danny is coming from. Adam is a poseur with great vocal chords.

One of the top performers last night. I can do without the extreme close ups of his face since it sort of scares me how much older he looks than his actual age. But, he's got some mad stage presence and I don't see anything derailing his (or Danny's) march to the final two. Makes for a very boring season when its so clear who is going to the end but at least he entertains me.

I couldn't agree more pillbeam. I don't think he is as good as the judges make him out to be. Yes he has the stage presence, but I think he shouted some of his song
