I loved listening to him last night. He has become my favourite. He is not a show off and just seems to genuinely love singing. I don't care what Simon things of him - I love him.

I thought Jason did extremely well and he'd obviously stepped up his game from previous weeks.
Simon didn't seem to like anybody (except for wonder kid David A.), whereas I loved everybody (except David A.) I'll even concede that Kristy did well! I suppose it is true, Simon just doesn't like / get country music.
2003-2008.
I really like Castro's unique sound. I agree, though, he should sing louder.
"Tons of surprises, but it wouldn't be 'American Idol' without it, would it?" Cowell told MTV News. "At the end of the day, I could go out and find 12 great singers, but that's kind of boring. The fact that there's people there who shouldn't be there makes it 'American Idol.' "
I'll bet she hasn't recorded (commercially, anyway) more than a few hundred songs, including both those she wrote and those she didn't. Lots of songwriters write new songs every day but only "keep" the, well, "keepers."Originally Posted by Misty8723;2881044;
I checked Dolly's own website and googled her discography, found the vast majority of songs she's recorded were either traditional songs (many folk songs) or songs written by other known songwriters. She's also written some songs for other singers, and she did write some of her big hits (Jolene, Coat Of Many Colors, I Will Always Love You, 9 to 5, etc.) but quite a few of her hits (e.g., Here You Come Again, Islands In The Stream) were written by someone else.
I think Jason made a good choice from Dolly's catalog.
I liked Jason again. He is who he is & he doesn't try to be anything different. He has such a great vibe about him.
I am glad that I am not alone in thinking the same thing.Originally Posted by Tickety;2888286;

I just rewatched a couple of videos of Jason, and it looks like my suspicions were confirmed. He's upgraded to a Gibson J 200. Nice pick Jason!
I also thought I heard a great tone coming from his guitar.
I really liked Jason's work last night. His emotions were right out there. I even voted for two hours which I have only ever done once before, last week.(Yes, this is me a big Constantine fan talking)
I am hopeful that Jason may get to stay around for a while longer and stretch himself a bit more. My hope is that he ignores Simon and stays with music he loves. I think that may be key for him. I suspect if he doesn't feel a passion for his music it will show.
As to Simon, of course he doesn't get country, he doesn't want to. Remember we had this little war with the Brit's and didn't leave them feeling any too good about it.
Jason always sounds the same, to me. He doesn't ever sing a song that challenges his voice. He has one voice range and style. That guitar of his sounds good, because that is all you hear when he's singing.

Going back a season, although stylisticly different, Jason is this year's Chris Richardson. Pleasant and enjoyable enough to keep around for a while, but not someone you really expect is going to be in position to win the whole thing. Probably finish 5th right around where Chris did.
