Am I the only person that thought that last night's performance positively sucked?

No, Toasty, there are 3: you, your wife, and (apparently) Calamari. You are in the minority. (It was actually Archuleta who hasn't lived up to expectations that past few weeks.)

What Mike showed last night is the depth and range of his voice. Something the judges saw during auditions, yet that very something that most of his song choices (except The Doors) didn't highlight.

When you can hit Freddie Mercury spot on, you don't have to change the song, as not many people can do justice to Freddie. The Idol candidates who have sung Queen songs in the past (like Constantine) have been raked over the coals.

Michael rocked "We Are The Champions" and it should be his kick in the pants to do the same every week. If it's not, I'll be standing first in line to take over that job.

i just think as good as michael does david cook is always going to be doing something better. yes they are different singers but they both have the rock tag and thats what people judge them by. top6 or five tops for michael, he isn't going to win and there isn't much he can do at this point to turn it around.

Am I the only person that thought that last night's performance positively sucked? My wife and I were stunned when the judges started doling out praise. He did nothing new with the song at all, so then you're just comparing his voice with that of Freddie Mercury -- and Michael comes up way short in that regard.

Totally scratching my head...

I have never gotten the praise fo rthis guy. I still believe he has almost a non existant upper range. He gets very weak when he gets up there. I say he is on limited time.

I loved what he did. I thought he had a great performance and rocked it well. I have liked him from day one, even though I don't think he will win. He should be in the top 3

I don't expect everyone to like Michael or any of the other idols. His voice is a lot more versatile than someone like Brooke or Jason and less than David A and David C but all of them have their fans. It comes down to whose voice you like best along with their looks and persona. Michael is the total package for me even though David C may have a better voice. I'm hoping both will end up with a contract after the show since I'd buy both of their records.

I completely enjoyed Michael's performance last night and even more so when I watched it again today. I hope he continues to do well and hangs in there a few more weeks.

I checked out his stuff on YouTube. He can definitely sing and has some good things on there but some of the songs I saw were a bit on the Creed-ish side stylistically which seriously made me shudder. Ughh. Not a good thing to imitate Michael!
