Heads up...CNN reporting that Elliot Yamin was in Chile this morning during the 8.8 Quake and is going to be reporting via phone or skype or something.

CNN said Elliot initially reported to them directly that he literally had to run for his life. If you miss his live report, it will probably be on vidoe on CNN's web site later on.

I don't think so. If he had such talent was as you say, he would be doing more without the AI tag...like jennifer Hudson has been able to do.

Elliot Yamin, cub reporter! He is 90 miles from Santiago, Chile. He's OK, but he is diabetic and only had enough insulin to last 'till Sunday. He's probably there for a while because reports are that the airport in Santiago has crumbled.

Apparently Ryan Seacrest put him in touch with someone and they were able to get him scheduled for a flight out of Chile.

Elliott will always be one of my favorite AI contestants. Richmond (his hometown) is basically my home away from home (almost all of my family lives there), so we were all rooting for him big time in 2006. Had the good fortune of going to the AI Season 5 tour in D.C., as well as hearing and seeing him perform the National Anthem at one of the last Richmond Braves games in 2008, just before the team moved to GA. That was the stadium and team that he sang at for the Hometown Visit that AI showed in the Finale 3 Results show. He came back that year since they were leaving. It was really kind of him. Meant a lot to me, I know.

I miss my team so much, but I always have that footage of the ballpark and the team from AI, thanks to Elliott. That was really an exciting time.

Thanks for the update, Little Sew&Sew. I've been wondering. Glad he's going to be OK. Now I hope he will start packing a lot more insulin when he travels! You knever know when you might get stuck someplace for whatever reason.

This trip will be quite memorable for Elliott.

He wasn't pleased with the way the competition was handled (although I don't know the details), then an earthquake hits (not a little shaker, but a massive moving of the earth) and then he gets stranded without the essentials.

Guess he learned some valuable lessons, but what I hope he remembers most is that he has a lot of people who are concerned for his well-being. We might not have been able to help physically, but all the well-wishes, good thoughts and prayers had to have accounted for something.

Man, do I miss Elliott. During his season, I was just blown away by his talent. His first album is great-- he managed to transition to a contemporary sound.
