yeah he was just nominated. for best r&b album/record???? i honestly think he was just nominated because it was a relatively poor competition. luther v won it but i think he won it becauses he was recovering from stroke. the rest sucked. luther's album had only couple good songs. but again this is JMHO. dont shoot me. please. :whistle

Pillbeam and anyone else...why do you think Carrie's applause has only been in her home state?

From what I read, Carrie and her band have done the Nashville rounds. Meaning that they have played in the bars and pubs in Nashville and surrounding area. They have been the opening act for Diamond Rio, plus she has some experience in college theater performance. She has paid her dues.

I was surprised she wasn't a contestant for Nashville Star! Maybe she is lost without her band members? However, performing before a large audience is not new for her as far as I have read.

Yes, she is a terrific singer. Tonight was not a good performance, but I expect she'll bounce back!

i don't think its her performing in front of large audiences thats affecting her stage performance (the ever so "deer look in the headlights" or whatever it is). i think its the thinking of being judged at is making her look the way she is. it's like she's thinking while she's performing (got to sing good, do the judges/audiences like this, etc.)

she's trying to much too please everyone (she does go online and check on boards...heard she looks at the official board) and to hear/see that everyone say she should take a risk, step out of the box, do something other than country. and she tried but i don't think she quite pulled it off.

she should just relax and have fun. tonight she tried to have fun but she didn't look relaxed. im a huge fan of her voice, but tonight she put her voice in the backburner and tried to perform. BUT, i did like the fact she TRIED to step out of her box, its just that it looked forced.

Well I thought she did great. Pat Benetar is a tough voice to do. I noticed the flub, but she recovered and finished good.

I think that Carrie sang just fine, if not amazingly, last night. What was distrubing was that stiff little dance thingy she had going. She was actually shaking her booty from side to side the entire time!!!! She looked like my 2 year old when she is dancing to the Wiggles. That is what made it awkward to watch for me, is that she could pull off that song with her voice, but her body was rejecting it like an artificial lung.

I want to applaud Carrie for trying something everyone on this board have been calling for for weeks! :yay

She rocked that song & there was no country in it at all...it wasn't her best performance, but I applaud her for the effort of trying something different.

Probably trying to emulate the original video. First time Pat Benetar ever danced too. It was all over the press at the time. Of course if you aren't ancient like me you wouldn't remember this.

I remember too, eny. I just thought Carrie was a little flat on this song last night. She is definitely NOT a Pat Benetar by any means. Pat Benetar's voice reaches those high, high notes with great ease.

I couldn't figure out if she had really flubbed the words or if they had just reworked the song for time constraints, but no she's no Pat . I 've seen a lot worse on the show though.
