Oh, and a woman named Jeannie Holleman, who was friends with the family who took Faye Grissom and her son Clay in when she left her abusive husband, Vernon, is now suing Clay and his mother because, according to her, Clay disparaged her "unauthorized biography" of him and says it contains lies about his family.
Author Claims Aiken, Mother Tried To Stifle Her Book
POSTED: 9:27 am EDT August 7, 2006
RALEIGH, N.C. -- The author of an "unauthorized tribute" to Clay Aiken says the "American Idol" singer has defamed her and conspired to stifle sales of her book.
Jeannie Holleman, 50, says she is a lifelong friend and neighbor of a Raleigh family that was also friends with Aiken's mother, Faye Parker, and took her in when Parker and her young son left her abusive husband.
-----
Note: In a prime example of how things get disorted in the media, that last paragraph was misunderstood to mean that Holleman herself took Faye and Clay in, and that is now how Celebrity Spider and other sites are relaying the gossip. It's a matter off sloppy grammar + careless research. It was "Granny McGhee's" family who took them in.
Holleman's book, "Out of the Blue -- 'Clay' it Forward," incorporates interviews from the McGhee family and her own recollections with stories from Aiken's fans.
-----
In a lawsuit filed Friday in Wake County Superior Court, Holleman claims Aiken, his mother and others conspired to defame her and depress sales of her book by denying they knew her, branding her stories as lies and demeaning the book on Aiken fans' Web sites.
The lawsuit also says the McGhees have distanced themselves from Holleman because of the dispute. It also claims a bodyguard for Aiken manhandled Holleman at a fundraiser in Hawaii.
A telephone message left Sunday at Parker's home was not immediately returned.
The lawsuit demands a minimum of $260,000 in damages and asks the court to order Aiken to issue a retraction of the critical comments or endorse her book on his official Web site, to write a positive introduction for the book, and to sell the book at his concerts for at least five years. Sounds like someone's book sales aren't so hot and a crazy lawsuit is just the ticket to free publicity.

I read this in the paper and laughed at her pitiful claim. She wants money and thinks she's found her gravy train. Glad that Clay didn't fall for it.

Clay is a co-writer on Everything I Have.
And right now Amazon is offering a pre-order price of $9.99 for the ATDW album. It is selling very well on Amazon, opening at #1 and hovering around #1 or #2 since then.
Jeanne Holleman and her book, don't think it's selling well at all which is probably why she's suing Clay and his mom. It's ridiculous, trying to make money off of Clay and his family, hope she loses. The things people will do to make a buck.........![]()
Isn't this the same woman who sold VHS copies of Clay singing at her daughter's wedding?
Yes, she's the same woman.
I'm sure this lawsuit's main purpose is publicity and resulting book sales.
Clay recently issues a statement saying he had directed his legal team to deal with this in the most vigorous way possible. He said he's come to accept that people will tell lies about him because he's in the public eye, but when someone drags his friends and family into it, they've crossed the line.
