Yea, on the offical site it says that.

It has nothing to do with the song choice, though I'm afraid of what they may sing. I just think it's stupid to ask children to sing songs from a decade they know nothing about. Heck, I don't know anything about 1970! My mother wasn't even in high school!
Congratulations Tori and Taylor!
I know something about the 70s. The people were hippee.
I like cheese!
I didn't believe this at first, so I checked the official site.
Yes the theme is 1970.
Also the program note says the results from tonight's show will not be aired until July 16th. (That's next week).
Are the producers actually trying to screw this show up?
Tuesday of next week is the All Star game. They want to show AJ atleast one each week.
I think that's too much time between the competition show & the results show. It would be better to just skip All Star week or do a little feature special like "AI2: Halfway Home".
Why don't these people just put me in charge?LOL!
^That's exactly the point I'm trying to make.
I like cheese!
i think it is in the 1970s not exactly the year 1970. i also heard that the year was 1972

I love AJ!!!
AJ will ALWAYS be MY American Junior!!!!
Congrats: Tori, Taylor, Chauncey, Lucy, and Danielle!!!
But don't you think kids should learn about different decades? I mean, I always thought one of the better things about AI was that they sang older songs, and if they sang modern songs what kind of choices would they have? The songs would probably be more innapropriate (I can't spell sorry!)Originally Posted by Dani321
Well, I learned about the 70's in history class. No song could've taught me what was going on in the 70's as much as my history teacher. "baby" "love" "honey" "sweetie" "war" "dancing" "disco" and the likes really don't clue me in on what my mom was doing in the 70's, other than listening to some pretty interesting songs.
I also never said modern songs were the issue. I think modern songs are just as bad as the songs they'll be singing tonight. Instead of picking a decade, they need to do what they did on American Idol and pick a genre, which allows more choices than a decade ever would.
Furthermore, the song list still would probably need to undergo a major make-over. I've been in the "pagent" business for a very long time. It's really not as hard as it sounds.
Congratulations Tori and Taylor!
