if fashion should be aspirational,
why is is morally okay for designers to want to aspire to something unattainable?

models are not just selling clothes, they're selling their bodies. and their bodies aren't realistic; they're not healthy.
i understand that fashion is fantasy,
but i find it morally reprehensible that women are coerced into believing that only one type of body is beautiful.
(and please don't argue that they're not coerced. they are.)
this is a real problem.
tall and thin is one thing, unhealthy is quite another. and we let this slide every day in our culture.

After tonight's episode I would just like to say Whitney needs to learn to shut her mouth. I get it; she's a healthy plus sized model. In fact, the whole world gets it by now.

you act is if modeling was a right for these girls, that industry should bend to their will. they have a choice not to starve themselves to attain an unhealthy body weight and size. they choose to do so and make the decision to put themselves through that. there are plenty of healthy thin models who don't have to starve themselves to be in the industry, they are naturally thin eg kate moss.

is being a model a right? i don't think so. if they don't meet the industries standards whether it be height, weight, look, eye color, etc then they should consider other careers.

the industry should be morally responsible.
of course there is always choice. anorexia is a disease more akin to drug addiction than to psychosis. yes, there is a choice.
but i'm sure you agree that we're bombarded daily by messages triumphing ONE body ideal.
why do some girls develop eating disorders while others don't? some of it is socialization, some is it is psychological or even genetic predisposition.

look at what you wrote: there are plenty of healthy thin models who don't have to starve themselves to be in the industry.
it's a problem with the industry,
not the models.
if even one model starves herself to be considered for work, isn't there something wrong with the system?
and many models DO starve themselves. most models are not at healthy weight levels, and that is a simple truth.

honestly her personality is grating and thats why i dislike her, a lot. i don't dislike her because of her size (even though i think there have been better shaped plus sized models on the show). its her personality, the way she talks and comes off, very obnoxious. if she was sweet and nice i wouldn't have a problem with her being on the show.

i used to hate plus size girl until i saw whitney... she's so stunning, and deserves to be called the best plus size model

but still, i think fashion industry will always prefer skinny models to plus size models.

As much as this girl is so spunky and stunning, I would always love to see a cycle without plus size. Whatever Tyty thinks about it, I think it will always be unfair.

I'm happy that Whitney has made it overseas - she is the first plus size girl to do this and that's cool. I think she has a beautiful face but she is a little "pageantry" - if she can tone that down a notch and learn to close her mouth in photoshoots, she might go far.
