| Re: Whitney - Cycle 10 Whitney was kind of being too bitchy tonight. That being said, calling her fat is ridiculous. She has a kick ass body. She's just not paper thin. However, she will never be a high fashion model.

and it is NOT healthy, NOT beautiful, and NOT normal. in any sense of the word. i agree with you that whitney shouldn't consider herself better than anyone else, but i am so tired of seeing REAL women underrepresented in an industry that caters to them.

| Re: Whitney - Cycle 10 REAL women are built in size 2s, 4s, and 6s. sure there are less of them but why should they be not considered REAL just because they aren't built like whitney is?

of course there are women who are naturally a size 0, 2, or 4. but you have to consider the power of the media- the western world is experiencing an anorexia epidemic because of an unhealthy ideal that permeates our culture. calling whitney fat doesn't help.

| Re: Whitney - Cycle 10 this is really not the arena i wanted to vocalize my views in- but they just came out. i'm sorry about that, i wanted to say this differently, in a different time and place. but i just can't take it sometimes.

| Re: Whitney - Cycle 10 who knows, maybe the media did brainwash her? she definitely falls in an unhealthy weight percentile, and the incidences of anorexia increase significantly in an immigrant population that's assimilated into american culture. but really, to me, it goes much beyond this. WHY is it okay that we look to fatima as a role model, when she doesn't represent any sizable population? WHY is it okay that her body type is depicted as ideal, when for most, it's unrealistic? (i really want to write a thread on this, because it's wearing me out, and i want to bring attention to this...)

| Re: Whitney - Cycle 10 i didn't call her fat, i just said she has a double chin. second of all, fashion is supposed to be aspirational (yes thats a word), what consumers want to achieve and look at. like a fantasy. they want above average, tall, thin and beautiful. why would consumers want to look around at magazines with average looking models in ads? there are average looking people in every day life, when people look in Vogue they don't want average. while its nice and commendable that whitney wants to "change the fashion industry" she is way out of her league because a) she's on a reality tv show b) she looks average even for a "plus sized" model c) she's obnoxious and annoying as hell. and worst of all she seems intent on putting down models and women who aren't built like her.
