| Re: Whitney - Cycle 10 Well, Whitney is clearly a mouth breather. That's why her gob is always open. Didn't you hear her in the commercial? All those little gasps before she spoke? It's because she can't breathe through her nose. I mean, I might be a little facetious, but ultimately, I really do believe she's a mouth breather. Not that there's anything wrong with that! (Except maybe because in a modelling competition, wherein you rely on your pictures and viewers ultimately begin to wonder whether you're part goldfish.) Okay, so just to drive my BMI shilling to the hilt ( ), here is a very handy Body Mass Index calculator. If we assume that Whitney is 5'10 and 150 lbs and plot that, her BMI is 21.5, which, if you look at the BMI categories in the sidebar to the left, is a perfectly normal value. If we assume that Fatima is 5'8 and 100 lbs and plot that, we get 15.2 ... which is actually extremely underweight. Now, I don't personally believe that that in itself constitutes unhealthiness - for instance, my BMI is something like 14.4, and I'm perfectly healthy, even if my weight has been despaired at by psychiatrists and nutrition specialists alike over the years.Well, I don't really have anything to remark upon Fatima-wise, at least not in these pages. The point that I'm driving at is really that no, Whitney is not fat. Sure, you could argue that there is cultural bias in the calculation of BMI, but the fact is that the original Belgian model has been since adjusted for different countries and culture: for instance, in America, the beginning value for obesity was lowered from 27 to 25; in Asia, the beginning value for obesity was lowered from 27 to 23, along, I believe, with some of the beginning values for what is considered underweight. (Also, since I'm doing this anyway, this is an extremely interesting medical study on the corrolation between BMI and perceived attractiveness. Seems like Whitney's figure is pretty attractive to most people, huh? I can't find the original study on the net and I'm loathe to type it all in, but maybe this is easier reading anyway. I'm going to stop now, though, before I turn this into yet another EE.)

| Re: Whitney - Cycle 10 Yeah, I'm thinking she might be more, too. I put 5'10" and 150 lbs more as a sort of guideline than anything else.

| Re: Whitney - Cycle 10 Weighing in (pun intended) on the Whitney=Fattie=Monster debate... One--I don't think she's fat. I'm going to agree with all of the people who said she is pretty average sized. And if we want to get technical, she may be big, but it's not like she has a bad body. There are no rolls on this girl or anything. Two--Ever hear of Crystal Renn aka the only example of a plus size model anyone ever comes up with? She was a skinny model when she started out, but it simply was not her body type. It took her far too much work to maintain a size 2 frame--enough work to the point where she was living unhealthily and unhappily. It was suggested she try for plus size modeling instead, so she let her body go back up to it's natural size (12) and is now more successful than she was when she was skinny. Maybe Whitney was similar. I don't think it's that far fetched of a theory. Three-- Pardon my French, but the fashion industry is filled with F***in retards, plain and simple. I cannot back a world where only sizes zero through two can be considered beautiful. I think it's absolutely insane. Four--People HATE Whitney for bashing skinny models, but nobody has any issue with people who bash plus sizes because skinny girls are the norm. How about we accept the fact that not everyone likes the Alice Burdeu body type. |

Her personality doesn't bother me either. With that said, she's like my fourth of fifth favorite for this cycle.

Thank you. This is why I despise the fashion industry. It's ridiculous to me that Whitney is even considered "plus size" in the first place.

I like healthy looking models. Skinny or normal weight. Some of the popular models, to me, look sick. I know the girls work very hard, but the dark circles, bags under their eyes and forehead bones showing just make me sad. Whitney looks healthy. So does Fatima. Jaslene looked healthy during her cycle, too.

| Re: Whitney - Cycle 10 Exactly. I don't care what a girl looks like, as long as she looks healthy. Whitney looks healthy, and she's a beautiful woman. Fatima is way, way skinnier, but she looks healthy too: I think it's just her body type. Same with Jaslene, as said above: she looks great too. I don't have a problem with being underweight, as long as it's natural, as it is with Fatima and Jaslene. I can't stand the people who are saying that Whitney is "fat". This girl is not fat: this girl has a butt and boobs, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. I love girls with boobs and a butt, and so I love Whitney's body. Quote:

| Re: Whitney - Cycle 10 but one designer from the go-sees say that they don't use size 0 too, right? That means you can't be too skinny either to be a model that fashion world uses. ARGH, this whole body issue thing really change people's perceptions a lot. I mean, I can't even tell if a woman normal or fat. I thought whitney is smaller than average but some people say that she's fat. Now I see why Tyra really cares about this whole body issue thing. ![]() and by the way I prefer whitney's hair to be brown, not blonde like now.
