The thing that I noticed most in this picture was not the armpits but the lips I think it is really cool how Lauren pouts her bottom lip in this pic: very beautiful as for the armpit situation... it seems to be a moot point for most ads that a model would do except perhaps ads for shaving products. Would the camera even notice that part of the body anyway?

And also, women who don't shave are only disgusting by western standards because we've come to think it's gross. Lauren has stated her viewpoint before ANTM was always hugely against the fashion world--she referred to high heels as a way to torture women. It doesn't surprise me that she doesn't shave and I don't think it's wrong.

I have heard that too about cultural differences and shaving under the armpits in fact isnt it only American women who shave armpit hair?

One of my friends doesn't shave her armpits.

According to her, she said that before the 20's, nobodoy shaved their armpits. It was a marketing scheme devised by Gilette to make people think that not shaving your arm pits was unhygenic... but obviously that isn't true. I've never heard of a man getting sick from not shaving his armpits, have you?

Regardless of why it's there, I think shaved armpits look nicer on everyone, and if she decides to rebel against society standards and put her razor away, then she's left herself as an open target to criticism and flack; she's asking for it.

Lauren's a really common name. Half the girls on all the top model's around the world have been named Lauren, let alone how many real models there must be with that name.

Lauren Utter probably DID walk in that fashion show--but I don't see why it's a surprise.

It's a pretty well known fact that the entire top 6 (or maybe even more) will get to walk on the final runway. Elyse from cycle one has confirmed this. If someone in the audience were to see only Anya and Whitney, then it would instantly become very clear who the final two are. Putting more of the ANTM girls in the show makes it more difficult for the audience to tell who's being judged, and therefore, keeps the chances of spoilers down.

Yeah that's why they don't show the whole runway show. And I think the episode where Saleshia won aired like a few days before this runway show hence her still having th nassty bob.

these are regular photos from everyday life.... does every picture a girl have to be a editorial? . HELL NO.. does the photo taken have to go throguh a screening process because photo that may not meets your high standards, these pictures arent shot thinking about whether or not people like what her ethics are all about or how she dress. Its self expression.. or just done as a regular person would take a photo of themselve. i doubt she truly cares what you think. Why should you have to worry about what people think about you in... effing candid shots... dude. this is how she lives her life. ..let her do just that. .. the expectations you lay on these girls. Sheesh. cant person take a cheesey photo and have fun like a normal human being?

Amen! It sounds like Lauren and I probably agree on some issues(at times I too can get on my soapbox about this topic (although I wont do it here);I just want to say that I understand where Lauren is coming from. More power to her!

What GuruBishisama said. None of the fashion shows - counting the one in C1, which was a dress rehearsal - have been real. Still, non-finalist girls have, as far as I know, always been walking in them, as decoys. Maybe it's a bit paranoid or maybe it's the sane thing to do in regards to a show whose cups runneth over with spoilers ... either way, there's no real reason to doubt Lauren's inclusion. Yeah, so she couldn't/can't walk. So what? It wasn't a real show, so nobody important would see it. She wasn't in the final two, so the judges couldn't really criticize her for her walk.

Also, re: armpit gate take two - um ... yeah. I'm so not going to get into this one. But really, this very adamant feminist wears makeup, struts about in high heels, is not only of European descent but entirely European, and shaves her pits, and that makes her no less of a feminist than Lauren.

I about half agree with her on the first part, and I'd love to discuss it with her, but what really sells this to me is the way she says it's no big deal, even though she does go back on her premises a little bit. Really, she recognizes that it's only hair. I think that's great.
