America’s Next Top Model 9: Media Conference Call Interview with Saleisha, 12/13/07

I was really hoping that the majority of the interview would be Saleisha discussing all the controversy around her title, her connections to Tyra, if Tyra had anything to say about it. I wanted her to get into deep detail on her criticism in the show, and on the forums.

She just kind of said "yeah lol i dun think i was favored" but she didn't explain why.

She seems like a sweet girl, but that interview definitely wasn't one of the best ones I've read today, since she barely mentioned her past experience and the controversy surrounding it at all.

She just talks about the same thing over and over again. Looks like she's not a very intelligent person - which totally fits Tyra's preference.

Look at Elise, AJ, and now Jenah.....Tyra doesn't like smart girls.

Interesting that she says she also wants to target acting. With that Wendy's commercial in her background, I'm not surprised.

SV had the most articulate questions ... as usual.

I didn't get a sense of the real her that I did from the other interviews. I was wondering, Shrinking Violet, do You think she was on a tighter leash than the other girls? Being the winner, and with the real or perceived controversy surrounding her, I could see why they might restrict interviews at first.

The interview was not as fulfilling as I had hoped. She really was evasive. Oh well.

I have to admit that from this interview, I realized that I never really disliked Saleisha, but I disliked the fact that she was favored throughout the competition. She's a sweet girl, but not a model in my eyes.

As far as any evasiveness or defensiveness on Saleisha's part--what would you do in her shoes? First of all, If I had just won ANTM, I would in no way try to think I didn't deserve it, and I certainly would not say that my victory was unfair or rigged or that I was favored. It's ridiculous to expect that of her because nobody would do it.

I do, however, think she's on a tighter leash--the winner always is. I remember feeling that way about Jaslene's interview earlier this year. She's probably tied down a lot more in what she says because of it, the moderator even stepped in at one point because she wasn't allowed to talk about her life since the show.

I wish her luck, because I think her final pictures did show high fashion potential, and I think with time we may see some nice stuff from her. No need for anyone to get their panties bunched up over it.
