Re: America’s Next Top Model 9: Media Conference Call Interview with Saleisha, 12/13/

I like to wait and see post show to determine whether a girl can get work instead of being an armchair modeling scout. A lot of girls who had great portfolios during show bombed post show and other girls who had mediocre or bad portfolios during the show have had better post show success that many people ever thought they would. The reason is that modeling is a crapshoot and one man's trash might be another one's treasure. Also Saleisha isn't the only girl who has before model before and use the show for exposure.

Q: There’s been some buzz about maybe there was something going on that you had previous experience. Can you just set the record straight and tell us what was your experience modeling or acting before the show?

I mean, I’ve had prior, you know, little modeling gigs that I’ve done. They were nothing like extremely big; they were just sort of little modeling gigs in LA. I’ve done a couple runways shows out in LA, some during Fashion Week in LA, and that’s pretty much it.
Ugh. Liar. She wouldn't mention working for Tyra in her Tyra show, in America's next top model. That's pretty much it yeah. Oh, yeah except for also this little commercial I was in that just was on tv nationwide, that's all.

True. A lot of these girls surprise/disappoint us, so early predictions are frequently wrong.

However, I believe she's the only one to have modeled on ANTM itself AND on Tyra's show-- AND to have a national tv commercial for a major product in circulation AND to have appeared on a hit sitcom-- before competing on ANTM.

There's never been a situation quite like this-- and that's not even taking into account Saleisha's prior connection to Tyra through her T-zone project.

I just don't see how anyone can dismiss this by saying some of the girls in past cycles had modeling experience before competing.

Exactly!

It's like Saleisha has plenty of experiences and also has/had jobs.. Like no problem... she could become higher model if she want.. like she had no problem entering Tyra's spot and so on which means she's somewhat popular girl, but why enter ANTM? See, that's not right. I don't mind when a person who has 20% model expriences or whatever that needs to learn more, etc... But not 80% or more experience, like Saleisha, she doesn't need ANTM. So I see something really fishy going on about her and Tyra! I hope it's not Tyra's ex boyfriend's little sister! Haha!

P.S. Sorry My english is crappy. Hope you know what I am talking about.

Yeah, that would be bad.

I just hope it doesn't turn out to be something else "really y"-- like Benny Medina signed Saleisha to some sort of representation and needed to give her national exposure, so he used ANTM to do it.

Yeah, I know-- yet another conspiracy theory.

I agree that Saleisha was wrong in the bed incident, she could have handled it a lot better. But the only person who came out of that looking perfect (when she most definitely is not) is Chantal yet Saleisha is the only one who gets any crap for it. She wanted her own bed, big deal. She could have handled it more maturely BUT ALL OF THE GIRLS COULD HAVE. It didn't even show her laughing with Bianca when Bianca was talking about how funny Saleisha wanting to keep the bed to herself was. It showed Jenah laughing though, even adding to the situation. Plus these girls have been living together for over a month, not being able to seperate AT ALL, and JUST got off a plane from USA to China. It just frustrates me people aren't more understand to how other people can be in that kind of situation.
You don't have such an issue with the bed situation, and I don't think it would have turned into such a big thing. However, during the contestants' critiques of each other both Saleisha and Chantal said that they would be better role models for younger children than Jenah would be. I think that's why people have such an issue with Saleisha's behavior.
