Re: America’s Next Top Model 9: Media Conference Call Interview with Saleisha, 12/13/

Reading the interview, I have mixed feelings. I think that there is something odd when a mod steps in and says "Sal can't talk about her time between the show and now" while all the other girls have been able to (Chantal, especially Jenah). That admittedly might be because she won, and I understand as far as possible gigs (as they can pull them with too much advance publicity) but I don't see the harm in answering if she just got to watch the show with family. That seemed odd to me, and I think the controversy did have something to do with it compared to other cycle's winners.

Saleshia has potential to be a great model, based on her photos after her win. I don't think she had the strongest competition portfolio out of the top two, but at least she did show she had potential. What I'm more disappointed about is that she did know Tyra, and even if they tried to be tougher, she had a couple of photos that if they were someone else doing it (rock climbing, the poor tulip one), they'd been eliminated. IMHO, Sal did get a free pass on some, but I have to be fair and I feel others did as well, such as Bianca (save the Heather one - she Heather did too poorly in something that really is useful in the modeling world - go sees).

That said, given what's going on, in order for her to overcome the controversy, Saleshia has to work harder than any of the other cycle winners. If she proves herself, then I think the controversy will diminish. Unfortunately for her, it will probably never go away like many of the controversies in baseball now. Does she have a shot - I think so, but it will be harder.

seem... kinda like... umm Tyra is cheating for antm... they met few times, but nevermind, congrats for the winner to Tyra's old friend (Saleisha)

Tyra, if you want to play real fair... be honest, just pick a newer non-experience model people for Antm competition. I prefer that.

I'm sorry but looking at Saleisha's port from smoking to present she is not photogenic, to put it bluntly. i can criticized this because i'm in the industry where i have to look at new faces, new developements and top girls 8 hours / 5 days a week.

Saleisha went to NY to meet Elite NY and its agents. None thinks she's got what it takes to get picked up for NY which means there's no chance in hell she'll get represented in Europe as well and get to be in sought after shows and get to work with the top photographers. That's why Saleisha said she'll concentrate in California. Looks to me she's back to square one doing the same old gig but this time with a new agency representation and 100k richer.

if it was one of the girls [6 top girls] who won Cycle 9 the turn of events will bode better for Tyra's show and most definitely would get a NY representation and lots of work overseas.

To add on to that, it was pretty funny that she said she will stick to California for now. Saleisha, as long as you know that you are mediocre. Don't aim so high stubby mushroom, or you will fall flat on your nose.

that's what i'm saying. Saleisha went to visit Elite NY agents and no one didn't want to represent her, not in NY that is. That's why she said she'll concentrate in California. She's back to square one!

Thing is, what is going to be done about it? Are you all willing to stop watching the show? Just a legitimate question, not flaming.

Sorry but I am not buying none of this posting. Nor do I believe that you have any insight into what Elite Modeling agents said about Saleisha.

Fair enough, but I too IRL deal with looking at people for photos and such. She does have photogenic qualities compared to some of the previous winners (Jaslene still is weak here, but she is improving).

As I said, she'll have to work at it in order to improve. I do see progress, but I admit she'll have to really work in order to continue past the year agreement with ANTM. We could be surprised, or we could be even more disappointed in that Tyra not only handpicked the winner this year from the get go (at least opinion), she proved that she was the worst winner ever.

I do agree that Heather, Lisa, Chantal, Jenah and Sarah would've been better winners as they had stronger photos overall. Sal also has the worst pic in ANTM history IMHO - the tulip one is worst than Lluvy's Pisces one (at least Tyra's opinion - I personally think Lluvy's pic was great. Fit the character better than Niama's Capricorn (well I think it's Capricorn) one.)

Well if they had responded well to her in NY, and wanted to send her out on castings in NY, she'd be in NY, not concentrating on LA.

Jaslene went straight from her win to NY and was sent out on high profile castings.
