| Re: CelebTV's Breaking News: TOP MODEL SCANDAL This is the first I've come back to the board since Wednesday night's debacle, and this is all very interesting, if not at all surprising. First off, Paulina Porizkova is replacing Twiggy on ANTM? That should be a hoot -- that alone would be worth watching the next cycle for. Tyra is used to being Queen Bee Numero Uno, so far the other models on the panel have been substantially older than Tyra and well past their prime look wise, but I saw Paulina on The Colbert Report earlier this year, I think she said she was 42 or 43, seven or eight years older than Tyra I think, and her looks so outstrip Tyra's, even as an older woman, it makes Tyra look more like an ugly stepsister. Plus her personality was amusing, endearing and eminently likeable, she had a real sense of humor and even comedic timing, she puts Tyra to shame on every level. Well worth watching. As for Saleisha, I wouldn't have expected she read, much lest comprehended her application and contract. We're not exactly talking a Rhodes Scholar here, I really doubt she understands or gave a second thought to any legalese. I don't blame her a bit. If there has been a failure here, it is the producers, the production company, CW's legal team, whatever, although I'd be willing to bet they were only spoonfed careful bits of truth, or alleged truth. I'm not sure I believe that statement about being found through her myspace page, but it doesn't really matter. Although it does remind me that ironically enough, I don't remember seeing any lessons this cycle on handling interviews, reporters, loaded questions, and potential bad publicity -- several people, including the winner, could probably have benefitted from it this cycle. ;D The commercial, well if she didn't say any lines I'd classify it more as modelling than acting, but I guess if Eva did a nationally released movie the year before ANTM 3 and that wasn't considering modelling either, then a commercial, even a nationally released one, is probably OK. The other things, those are more problematic. I know someone said that the website ad was for a regional not a national company, and has only regional distribution, but if any of those photos appeared on the website, they would have had international exposure, not just national. The website could and would have been accessed by people around the country. I'm dying to go back and look at Cycle 6 to see the fashion show she was part of, I should think that might qualify, as would 2 appearances on the Tyra show. Individually, any one of these things might not constitute a violation, but collectively, as they pile up, it does raise a lot of questions. As for what happens to Saleisha, I really doubt she'd get stripped of her title. So far, it appears they have decided to keep silent in the vain hope that this will all blow over eventually. I have no doubt the producers, Tyra and co. will stand behind their winner, because to do otherwise would be to open a can of worms, and Saleisha could sue THEM. If you believe there was a conspiracy to cover up her past ineligible activity, or her past relationship with Tyra, do you think they would realistically do anything that might provoke her to disclose more details? Chantal could conceivably sue them, and that might open up more than they like, but that would probably be a career ending move. Whereas if Saleisha was stripped of her title or the cash and prizes, she would probably definitely sue, and I really doubt they would want her giving depositions, particularly if there was a conspiracy, or if as has been previously alleged, Tyra was calling up the house and giving extra advice and help to the AA girls in the house. Not good PR. Nope, my prediction is they'll try to go an Alberto Gonzalez, circle the wagons up, keep their mouths shut, and hope it all goes away. I'll also predict that they'll have just as much success. Its like the firing of the US Attorneys, its like Watergate, its like all those scandals, its not just a question of whether a "crime" was committed, its more a question of a public perception that a crime may have been committed, and equally, a question of the lies and the coverup being more damaging than the "crimes" committed. Its a PR nightmare, that's what it is, its a lose lose situation -- if they stripped her of her title and prizes, they would be admitting guilt, if they don't, and they do as bad a job of defending themselves as they have to date (by doing nothing) that just lends more weight to the charges and makes the girls who were "robbed" seem even more like victims. As for Saleisha, doesn't matter whether its true or not, she's tainted, for better or worse. She'd almost be better off getting stripped, then some of her detractors might feel like justice had been served, but as long as she has the title and the cash, the sense of injustice will never be satisfied. Its like having been named on that list of steroid users the baseball commission just released: doesn't matter if its true or not, there's now an asterik next to your name for all eternity. |

I'd at least like to see full disclosure of past professional work in the initial interviews from now on. What I'd prefer is to have ALL contestants on a level playing field each cycle, but that's unlikely to happen. ![]() | |

| Re: CelebTV's Breaking News: TOP MODEL SCANDAL See this whole thing doesn't bother me at all because If antm wanted to be at all legit, they'd pick people with zero tv/modelling experience. But as it is, they chose people who have done tv/modelling or both. |

| Re: CelebTV's Breaking News: TOP MODEL SCANDAL that part doesn't matter to me either, and I think people who keep bringing up things like the Wendy's commercial are just hurting their own arguments. It's the things that were directly related to Tyra that make it shady. Tyra was like "i'm not gonna pretend I don't know you, you went to my camp" but she conveniently forgot to mention "and you modeled on my talk show twice, where I had direct contact with you". it's not breaking the rules, it's just clear favoritism. |
