| Re: CelebTV's Breaking News: TOP MODEL SCANDAL I read somewhere (unfortunately I cannot post links yet) that said Sal did list the commercial on her application, and upon the group's reviewing it, ruled that she was an actress in it, but not a model. However, if the rules say verbatim "cannot compete in a national campaign," she is still in violation of the rules. That is a national campaign - it is advertising and makes a profit for Wendy's - and her mug is on it. If the rules specifically say "Cannot compete in a national modeling campaign" (i.e. magazine spread, Victoria's Secret runway show) then based on that, she could be seen as being in the legal boundaries of the contest as she was ruled an actress and not model. This means unless it says specifically modeling, the producers decided to violate their own rules and let her compete. It's a shame regardless, because if they altered/ignored the rules enough to let her compete, then it ruins the integrity of the show. People have tried to say Jaslene was in violation of the rules for appearing on the show which is shown nationally. I wasn't fond of Jaslene winning (I think Natasha did better overall), but unlike Saleisha, she appeared on ANTM before during finalists selection, not in a national ad campaign. I personally don't see Jaslene's getting to come back after not making it the season prior as a rule violation, given other shows such as "American Idol" and "Survivor" have had people make it far, but not selected to the next round. They try out again and then make it. Unless I'm mistaken, "Survivor" even had a contestant who was selected as a contestant one season, but because of a death in the family, she was unable to participate that year, but did get to the next season. I feel bad for Sal to a point, because she does have some potential to be a model, but this really makes me wish the FCC would implement rules on reality shows and the fairness aspect of it, like what happened after the rigging of "The $64,000 Question." It will also taint her win no matter what. |

| Re: CelebTV's Breaking News: TOP MODEL SCANDAL The worst part of all of this is that Tyra will probably dismiss all these questions, defend her choice of winner by calling us angry viewers because our favourites did not win. Cycle 10 will continue on and Tyra + Saleisha are gonna get away with all of this. After all, we are but a small proportion of ANTM viewers. Many viewers I know, do not get so involved as to discuss in depth rules etc. I wish there were enough viewers aware of the scandal. But either way, the guilt is never going to follow Tyra after she steps off the stage of her supermodel set, or when she gets home to remove her face and go to bed. It's the sad sad truth. I think she meant that Tyra knew that Lisa was a threat to Saleisha winning the title, so she had to be mean and make up an excuse for kicking Lisa off (same applies with Jenah and Heather). |

| Re: CelebTV's Breaking News: TOP MODEL SCANDAL ANTM may need a revolution with this scandal. Get rid of CG and Seventeen, replace the judges and choose girls with modelling potential and not personality. Wake up. |

T-zone doesnt count as it isnt "modelling experience", just a 'relationship' with Tyra. The things that count here are that Saleisha has:
If CW and ANTM took those as 'acting', not 'modelling', Im disgusted. Now that's just unfair.

| Re: CelebTV's Breaking News: TOP MODEL SCANDAL The way I see it, Saleisha's past relationship with Tyra from Tzone did give her an advantage as well. In the past, girls who take some amazing pictures have been eliminated due to "lack of personality" or "not memorable." So the past connection Scandaleisha had with her meant that Tyra knows her personality beforehand and liked it, and ofcourse she would stick out more in Tyra's mind. |

| Re: CelebTV's Breaking News: TOP MODEL SCANDAL that was an excellent point. unfortunately, it goes back to giving Saleisha a leg up as well as favoring her than any girl which isn't fair for anyone who is involved in a contest. Quote:

Most contests have in their eligibility requirements that you must not be employed by-- or even related to any employee of-- the sponsor of the contest or its administrators, even if the contest is a random drawing or lottery. If your mom is just a counter worker at McDonald's, you're ineligible to win one of their contests, even though she would have no possible way of affecting the outcome in your favor. That's how much they want to avoid the appearance of "foul play". But if you have a prior relationship with anyone who has to actually choose you as the winner-- and I think Saleisha has had enough contact with Tyra and her productions to establish a significant prior relationship-- that's really "foul play" and potentially actionable IMO. (On the other hand, I'm not a lawyer, just applying conventional wisdom based on past cases where people did sue.) Quote:
If there hadn't been a commercial challenge this cycle, this might not have been quite so bad. However, Lisa and Heather wound up in the bottom two based on this-- with Lisa getting eliminated-- even though both had photos and a performance record clearly superior to Saleisha's. | ||
