People...Heather does NOT have ADHD....she has Aspergers Syndrome which falls into the "High Functioning" category of Autism Spectrum Disorders. The reason for her "weird" behaviour is because people with Asperger's Syndrome generally have an excellent command of language but not of any other communication skills (hand gestures, tone of voice, facial expressions etc) so they tend to either have none of these or hugely over compensate (by mimicking what they have seen on tv, people around them) They have VERY high IQs but are very uncomfortable interacting with others. They do not understand communication cues the way a non Aspergers person would. EX. they have a hard time reading people's body language or facial expressions...somebody would have to tell them they are angry at them, they would not be able to tell simply because the person was yelling or "looked" angry.

Not even close to the same characteristics of ADHD....I'm studying this in school right now so if anyone has any other questions don't hesitate to ask!

But anyway. I noticed that on the ANTM Contestant Application that it says that the contestant must be in excellent physical and mental health.

I'm not sure if ADHD is severe or not (not exactly the greatest doctor on this site), but I'm pretty sure that she's going against the rules right now, since her ADHD will affect her in the competition.

Being that Heather has Aspergers Syndrome and not ADHD, and the fact that Aspergers has nothing to do with your mental health Heather is fine!

She does have BOTH Aspergers and ADHD, which is fairly common. The majority of her awkwardness comes from the Aspbergers though.

Listening to the video, I think there's a quality to how she speaks that I've heard in other people with Asperger's. Yes, its very mild, but you can hear it. It comes off as a kind of giddy excitement, and a weird kind of focus. To me, at least, it was kind of charming, again because I think its very mild in her case and she's obviously done a lot of work to shape those qualities into something constructive.


I'm betting her interview persona makes a lot more sense to you now, right?

Right on!.. Time to take a break from the wicked stepmother's daughters(the bitchy contestants) and focus on the real Cinderella of the show! Of course it is Heather. I can't wait to watch her weekly transformation . Yes, I'm positive she will be around for a while. I'm banking on the producers knowing exactly what the fans want.

I really hope Heather wins too, though I think she is definitly going to have to improve her walk! I liked it when one of the judges (I can't remember who) said that Heather had no chance in high fashion cause she couldn't do runway and then Tyra was right by her side pointing out other successfull runway models with a funky walk. I love it when Tyra defends the contestants. I liked Lisa because I thought she really had a passion to win. I mean I realize mostly all of them really want to win, but I think Lisa is like dying for it. When Tyra was at the last two of calling who was in the top 20 Lisa looked like she was about to break down. So, I'm out there for both of them.

I feel bad for her, her awkwardness is so terrible to watch. But it's not like she can control it anyway.
