I'm disappointed Ebony quit (my favourite has never gone this early), but I think it's good for her since she clearly didn't want to be there anymore and I hope if she does continue modelling she will be very successful since she has the whole package.

Seriosuly, Tyra acts like shes never quit something in her entire life! Hello, I bet everyone remembers about her singing stint. Where's the rest of that album besides that one single? And what about how she gave into the press and lost weight after her whole "So What!" movement? Yeah Tyra, you are not a quitter.

you made some valid points there. i agree. but ebony did quit, and i think tyra just wanted to send out the message that quitting isn't good to young audiences and hopefuls. i was walking at the mall yesterday, and i saw these two young girls skipping and one of them bursted out into (what i thought was a pretty decent) a runway walk, and was like "I'M AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MODEL". it was so sweet, and for ebony to just say she quits might send a bad message to younger audiences.

i don't know if i'm getting what i'm trying to say across, but i agree with you 100% Yummy.

For Ebony to say that she quits because of how unhappy and broken down she feels, may send a great message not only to the young audience but everyone else. You're your own priority and what makes you unhappy quit it at once, there's always a limit for how far one can go. She's a great rolemodel for younger kids especially those trying to fit into a specific mold. Be who you are and stand for it. You go Ebony!

I don't think Ebony should have quit, but I respect her decision. I think she should have tried to stick it out, and quitting a temporary situation because you miss your family makes her sound a bit sheltered. I think sometimes in life you have to face situations that take you out of your comfort zone, and you need to know how to deal with them, and many times quitting won't be such a simple option.

However, Ebony seems like a lovely girl, but it seems to me that she was right. I don't think modeling is for her. Modeling is a demanding career, takes you away from your family constantly, and you have to know you're going to be criticized to death. And I do think she is beautiful, just not very photogenic.

Had Tyra told her "Oh, it's ok. I understand." That would be worse becuase it would be an indirect way of telling Ebony it's ok to quit whenever things get hard. That type of attitude would get Ebony nowhere outside of the ghetto.

Telling her "Quitters disappoint me" is another way of telling her that whatever she does in life, things aren't always going to go her way so at one point she's going to have to tough it up or continue being mediocre.

It seemed Tyra wanted her to go to the finals and maybe her quitting over something so expected like criticism just upset Tyra because of the potential going down the drain.

I like Ebony, there is something very sweet about her but the girl needs to toughen up if she wants to make anything of herself. Tyra was right in what she did though.

I have to agree with ArtSciBoy on this one. I have suspected for some time that ANTM is more about TV then modeling and I think that Ebony figured that out. BTW thanks Shrinkingviolet for doing the interview with Ebony. I think it is so cool that Ebony is officially six feet tall! I rank Ebony right up there(no pun intended),with Sara(C6) Albert! I also read the interview that ArtSciBoy cited and it agrees with the interview that Shrinkingviolet did. In both interviews Ebony emphazies that it is reality TV not modeling per se that Ebony dislikes. I hope that Ebony models in the future.

i see what your saying
but i dont think ebony entirely quit because she missed her family...

in the interviews i've heard/read from her, the main reason she quit was because she didnt enjoy having every conversation she had recorded, and she didnt enjoy being escorted to the bathroom, or asked annoying/hurtful questions everyday in ridiculous interviews, or getting 3 hours of sleep a night.

for anyone, that's a lot to put up with.

ebony knew she wasnt going to win,
and ebony probobly realizes that she has potential, and it's pointless for her to be there if she doesn't enjoy it, because she can get a modelling contract on her own.

i really think ebony can be a very successful model if she puts nursing aside for awhile. if she wants to pursue modeling, she should realize that nursing can be done anytime in your life, while modeling has a expiration date.
