| Re: Ebony - Cycle 9 I was surprised that Tyra didn't boot Ebony off last night. She wasn't doing well at all. Even though she is extremely pretty, she has to make it in the business as well. I was very happy to see that Ebony decided that modelling was not for her and had the courage to leave the show when she did. If she stayed, she would have cost another model who really wanted and needed the week to improve. I was surprised and angry about what Tyra said to her. That one thing that Tyra hated was a quitter. WTH? If you know you hate something and aren't cut out for it at that time, it's way better to leave than to stay and become miserable, take verbal abuse from the judges, and feel like a failure. IMO Ebony isn't a "quitter". She just realized that being a model wouldn't make her happy. True, it would have been better if Ebony realized that before now. But Tyra should have respected her decision.

| Re: Ebony - Cycle 9 I hope she pulls an Elyse and decides to keep modeling anyway. I bet she'll get offers, but who knows maybe she's just going to school or something. She did try to come back on the show so maybe she changed her mind. |

What Tyra said was harsh, but, I can understand why she said it. Here's a girl who practically begged to be on the show and got on it, even though there were many other qualified applicants. She should of realized before what she was getting into since she's watched how many seasons of this show?? I get that part of it is reality tv so it can be misleading but, what about all the other sources that say modelling is hard work? She should of known that she'd be away from her family before she signed up. I Personally think she quit because she couldn't handle the critism, critism that was well deserved IMO. When she presented herself at panel half the time she annoyed me cause she did that thing with her face that a 5 year old does when theyr'e shy and that's completely opposite to the person she presents on a day to day basis. For this, I can understand why the panel continually picked on her. Here is a girl that could possibly be the next antm and this is how she acts?? To be a spokesperson you have to have confidence and to me Ebony never showed this. | |

| Re: Ebony - Cycle 9 I have never understood why the judges didn't like her attitude. She reminds me of my friend who puts on this tough exterior because she's been knocked down so many times. I'm glad she had the courage to leave the show. It's not quitting. It's knowing what's not right for you. Since I live in the Chicago area, I have seen her personally promoting the show on the CW channel. I don't know if she is doing anything else but the media made a big deal about her and Heather since they're both from this area. Oh, and some people who knew her personally said that she had a bad attitude also. Their perception may be flawed too. |

| Re: Ebony - Cycle 9 I interact with many young people like Ebony on a daily basis. People like Ebony are always uncomfortable when you remove them from their environment. She lives in a big city and has grown up in one neighborhood. This is where she developed her attitude. She can't stand to be told anything. She could not take direction. She will have many excuses back in the 'hood as to why she blew this great opportunity. She has always been able to get away with it, and she will do nothing and go nowhere....for life. |

| Re: Ebony - Cycle 9 I'm actually straddling the fence with this one, because I see both points. Tyra was in her right to criticize Ebony for what she did. I do think that some of her comments were a bit too far (quitting isn't ugly - it takes courage to say), but she did choose Ebony because she had potential. There are those who would love to have the chance at being America's Next Top Model who aren't chosen, so yes, Ebony ruined that person's chances for at least a year. Sometimes, in that year the person has a postive change and becomes better (Jaslene for example - regardless of personal opinions), others it could be negative and they can't return. Ebony could possibly have taken a spot that could've gone to a girl who won't get that next year chance. Her narcissim aside (I do see that in her), Tyra knows she could've lost a potential model in someone she cut, so she has every right to be upset. That said, Ebony showed courage to admit this wasn't for her - and IMO, it would be hard to turn your back on a $100,000 prize (at least the CoverGirl contract). She could've, as several said, decided to keep going and not be happy. Instead by quitting, she gave Ambreal another chance. She also, by quitting during the reveal, kept a second person possibly being removed, or like they did (or I think so - mind's a bit foggy) when Cassandra quit in Cycle 5 and they still eliminated someone later on after that photoshoot. But, that said, if homesickness is one of the reasons she quit, so she should've really thought about continuing before she said she'd go. This was a chance for her, and she could possibly if not has ruined the chance for her to change her mind on modeling. People will remember that she decided "it wasn't for her." |
