I agree with the trap part as everyone has a mind of their own to choose what they want to see, but the is a theory called The Hypodermic Needle Theory which suggests that any media texts in a way "brainwashes" us in buying a product or rooting for someone, and the thoery is too simple to withstand an argument but when you think about it, you do base judgements on what you see on TV by it's editing, you probably haven't met a contestant, yet we are assuming by the editing that the girl is genuinely nice or she is fake or whatever.

I agree about the weight thing, she is not fat it was obvioulsy a stab at Saleisha's confidence when Bianca said it and people then thought, "Oh yea she is", which comes back to The Hypodermic Needle Theory.

The reason I said it was a trap was because the shows audience is young girls between the age of 8-14. They probably don't know any better but to be sucked in to editing and think someone is nice or someone is a b****h. It's obvious who the audience is because all you have to do is look at the prizes.

I'm 15 and love the show but don't get sucked in to the editing because I do Media Studies for GCSE and it has opened my eyes wide to the world of the Media. Plus I've loved reality shows since before I can remeber.

I loved Natasha because of her personality but don't think she is an amazing model by no means, and I know persoanlity does not make a model. Look at Naomi Campbell the biggest b***h ever and probably the most succesful model of today. I did not like most of her photos and her personality did annoy me a little, but she did have a great walk.



Oh and for the record I'm a Jenah Fan!!!

Im a Jenah fan too and I did want her to win , but Im all for Saleisha winning. I like Saleisha because I like her pictures, both on the show and post, her personality and everything about her. I loved her walk. The same goes for Jenah. Not because of the edit she got with her being so great and everything. I decide who I think is a good model or a person in general, not by what the editors of the show show us.

It just depends on what is your cup of tea/coffee. Many like the winner to be high-fashion while others want them to appeal to a more commercial market.

One of my friends backed Jenah all the way and the switched over to Saleisha, even though for Cycle 8 she wanted Renee to win, as in my friends words, "She took class pictures and is the better model out of the 3" But this Cycle it was, "Saleisha is nicer" Hmmm, like I said does that make a model... no! Personality can help you in the modelling industry but if your body of work is not up to scratch you are not going to get booked and then that's basically you're career over.

I'm not saying this will happen to Saleisha but the backlash of her winning has already started (contract reduced to 1 year) and I doubt that this negativity will end soon.

I don't have a problem with that, everyone has a right to their opinion, and I'm not arguing that you should change your mind, because that's not what I'm saying and I'm not assuming that you're thinking I'm saying this.

Yea but you may think you are not basing it on editing but you are. Even I am basing it on editing as I'm a Jenah fan and I think she is cool, but for all I know she could be really nasty, which I doubt.

Even if it does not come down to editing, it comes down to what the camera picks up. I said it in Ebony's thread but you only see what the camera wants you to see. For example the camera might be filming a fight between two girls but where the camera is not filming, like lets say in a different room and there are to supposed nice girls b***hing about others and yet you do not see this. The only way you can make a proper judgement is if you're there watching this happen in real life rather than on TV. Do you get what I'm saying?

She'll probably get signed to another agency once Elite is done with her. She has a great personality and walk, and she does take great pictures, in my opinion since i know a lot dont agree. I really dont care if the model is high fashion or not.It doesnt really matter to me. this cycle I want either Anya or Fatima to win. I just want the winners and the contestants to book jobs. ooo Maybe I will see Saleisha on a Chiles commercial like Mercedes one day. And if all else fails, tyra, like the majority says will get her a job, because sometimes its not what you know, its who you know.

I'm sure you're a nice girl and all but I don't want to fall out with you or anyone for that matter over something like this. So I'm sorry if I've annoyed you or anyone. I just wanted to point out that things seem more simple than they actually are, as I explained earlier.

Oh and by the way GCSEs in the UK are the most important exams of you life as they determine what job you'll get hired for and so on (unless you decide to do A-Levels then on to university, they are nearly more important in that sense) I think they might be similar to the Americans' SATs??

I just have to say one thing -

Having a great personality doesn't get you a job. And Saleisha's personality is kind of fake, anyway.

I didnt think it was fake, but a great personality does help you book jobs. Because the designers will like you better. And she is able to back up the personality with her pictures, and walk.
