I'm pretty sure that's a good indicator of the fact that she knows how to model.
That Peter Som show was a mall show for like old people...not a big deal. Tibi was a Tyra hook up. And yeah she was with LA Models and Photogenics but was she recognizable before the show? I just think her pre-show career was better than post.

Re: Saleisha - Cycle 9

Had Saleisha not gone on the show I think she would've been much more successful. All the scandals that resulted from her appearance and win tainted her name and no doubt has hindered her career. She seemed to be doing quite well for herself before. And the title would've probably gone to somebody who most people feel was more deserving. Everything would've been fine. I'm not scorning Saleisha for desiring another extra step into the industry but her win has been more negative for everybody involved than positive.

^ Yep. She kinda ruined herself. Now she's just that dime a dozen mediocre top model winner.

The Peter Som show was for potential buyers and clients...yes, it was a big deal. I never said she was with LA Models, haha; I was alluding to the fact that LA Models is as reputable as Photogenics (Saleisha's former agency).

A ANTM portfolio doesn't mean squat in the real modeling world and your modeling potential does. It's good for top 10, best of, worst of threads on forums though.

Oh you really got me! . And I don't care who she is or was with. I just don't like her. And sure buyers are a big deal but she didn't even look good and Peter Som isn't that big of a designer. You would probably only know about him if you read Vogue or keep up with fashion.

...Um, I wasn't trying to "get you". I was trying to explain something nicely, sweetie.

Your latter bolded statement is exactly why the work she's getting is considered somewhat respectable and "high fashion". The public knows about Baby Phat, but does that make it noteworthy or respectable? Designers like Som who are reputable in the fashion industry are designers for whom new models, like Saleisha, usually relish the chance to walk for.

I absolutely agree with this. It's not whether the masses know of a particular designer that makes him or her reputable or "big".

Re: Saleisha - Cycle 9

There is a difference between someone not being modelesque and someone who is a model but whose look does not appeal to everyone.

Project Runway's Tim Gunn says, Chacon a son gout - it's a matter of taste.

Twiggy would say that some girls were not to her cup of tea - Jade looked too harsh, Nik's walk was too bouncy, but they were still modelesque, versus the girls who she did not think were models - Cycle 9's Janet and Ambreal.

As that F-A-B-O sage Toccara would say, "B**** is getting paid!"
