Here's a conspiracy theory for everyone to mull over--If Tiffany would have managed to win cycle 4, Saleisha wouldn't have won cycle 9.

First of all, to examine this theory, one needs to accept the idea that ANTM has an idea for the type of winner they want and the type of story they want to tell with each season.

With the case of Tiffany, it seemed that the writers/producers wanted to tell the story "If at first you don't succeed, try and try again". The idea of having a girl who didn't make it before because of her anger, but was able to try again and succeed by overcoming her personal demons? That's ratings gold right there, the average viewer who doesn't take ANTM too seriously would eat that up. It would have been a great story to tell. The problem was, in the end, Tiffany. Her lack of drive and strong performance got to a point where she simply could not be kept, and her downfall became a stronger story.

Fast forward to season eight. This time around, the judges were given another chance. Now we have Jaslene, a girl, who, like Tiffany, didn't make it her first time. This gave the editors another chance to have the story of the girl who tried again, and Jaslene's performance was good enough to take the title.

Of course, the show likes to advertise diversity amongst their winners. I'm sure they also keep in touch with the viewer's reactions, and a lot of people didn't like Jaslene. Given those two facts, it only makes sense that the next winner would be the opposite of Jaslene--rather than picking a hard edged, debatable beauty who had performed consistently throughout, the next winner would have to be a relatable girl with commercial appeal who started off weak and made progress throughout. Throw in the numerous previous connections to Tyra in the mix... and Saleisha, on paper, is the ideal winner for the judges.

Ergo, if Tiffany had won cycle four, Jaslene wouldn't have won cycle eight, and Saleisha wouldn't have one cycle nine.

...This is me thinking waaay to hard about this show.

That does make some sense, but in the end I think Tiffany, like C9 Ebony, was Tyra's little own Naomi Campbell voodoo doll to take her frustrations out on...

that gargoyle shot that she did is terrible.
her face looks chubby, her legs look short and gumpy, and as usual, she has NO NECK!

i think that's one of the worst shots this season, along with her tulip shot.

that rock climbing picture isn't much better.
and i dislike her recycling shot. a lot.

Her recycling shot gave me hope. I think it's awesome still I thought Heather or Jenah deserved to be called first, not her.

The problem with Saleisha is that she started strong but she was trusting too much in herself. I feel she believed that just because she had experience she was amazing. When the other girls started to improve and showed they were better models Saleisha stuck.

I didn't like that simply because I thought there were times she deserved to be in the bottom 2. I was irritated when she was called early in the burning car shoot. Even Nigel said the photo was not good. She deserved to be in the bottom 2 that week.

When Tyra said that she was not high fashion in the final 3 elimination I really thought she was doomed but then she eliminated Jenah and chose Saleisha to win, she went against everything she was trying to implement in the season. It was the biggest contradiction ever in the show.

That Seventeen spread is beyond pathetic! Those are the worst photos I've even seen in a magazine that didn't have "horror" on the front of it!
