I have a question? How many winners or contestants did NYC fashion week RIGHT after their cycle ended. I know Jaslene did but that was for lower-tier designers and charity events (Istill give her credit). Sami was signed with Elite right the show went to NYC did catalog and editorial work but wasn't sent to runway castings. Did Alice get a showcard yet? I think Melrose did NYC fashion week at first but they put her in hideous furry outfit. As for Dani when she finally did fashion week it was for Baby Phat and some people thought she got the job because Kimmora Lee is Tyra's BFF and booked her that job because of that relationship. Other girls have worked their way up to do NYC Fashion Week later in their careers. BTW this show is seen as a joke in fashion industry by insiders and it didn't start with Saleisha, Jaslene or even Eva. Elyse had her snake photoshoot tossed back to her after her a client looked at it. The "High Fashion" winners (Yoanna, Nicole) haven't redeemed the show for some reason.

i think she means that picture was in her portfolio, and when the client looked at it, they just threw it back at her like they thought it was a joke

That's is correct Steph. I am a guy. Clients consider ANTM photos to theme oriented to try to use to get signed.

The thing is Saleisha has had runway experience and was basically touted on the show as being runway-ready. I suppose that is what people are finding interesting/'funny'/ironic about Elite then not planning on sending her out for fashion week.

While perhaps some of the other winners may have had amateur experience, Saliesha was signed to a reputable agency and presumably walked for real designers. That's kind of what makes the difference -- there's really nothing odd about, say, Caridee not being sent to fw castings, but there is for the girl who won two of three runway challenges (one of which the head of Elite was a judge) and who was previously signed as a runway model.

Understandably, LA has different standards than NY, but then it calls into question why the judges thought they could make her into a high fashion model and pushed that story arc to the point of nausea.

Off the top of my head: Ann, Nnenna, Nik, Shannon, Rebecca all walked at the fashion week following their respective seasons iirc.

Elite is probably more interested in developing Samantha, building up her book before sending her out to bigger clients. She is still relatively young (for a beginner model; obviously she's young as a person) and tbh a little green. Who knows, it's a little speculation on my part.

Alice only signed with Elite after the last fashion week and will be moving to NY this month. We'll find out if she's getting a showcard when the show packages are released.

Did anyone read her interview in Seventeen? Even though I still regard as not that great of a model, I felt touched by her story with her mother - as someone who is down most of the time and not inspired as of late, I could relate - the interview actually made Saleisha seem human, not a facade of happiness.

I kinda felt the barrier of Saleisha's everlasting spew of rainbows since the day she was born when she was one and said, "When I was younger, I just wasn't happy with my life." The way she said it was so weird that I wanted to frown. We know her life was an everlasting spew of rainbows after T-Zone though. I have to go read that interview... mm.

I love how Nik walked fashion week even though the judges were like "omg 2 bouncy sux"
