| Re: Saleisha - Cycle 9 *tells Jennifer Hudson to give back her Oscar for copying the Tootie 'do* Looking back at those preshow pics a few pages ago, she really is a genuine no-neck monster, no? Poor thing. And if that bit about Elite not sending her out to do castings for NY fashion week is true, then excuse me while I get a Tootie 'do in celebration...

Well, at least she can demand a better paycheck next time she does a Wendy's commercial. | |

| Re: Saleisha - Cycle 9 It doesn't surprise me that she isn't being sent to runway castings for NYC Fashion Week. There is shortage for Asian and Black models that are in NYC fashion week and other top-tier fashion capitals (Paris, London, Milan). In fact Paris just had one black model at their fashion week (that will change to two next year when Tootie is there). You have the couple of token girls that do the top shows but most of Black Models were relegated to Urban fashion like Baby Phat. Tyra had a episode on her talk show called the "blackout" and Naomi is so mad about it that she is promising to start a modeling agency in Kenya. If some B-list girls can barely do fashion shows, what does it say about a middling model like Saleisha who is as commercial as they come. Saleisha's sob story is that both of her parents were on drugs and alcohol, her mother was bi-polar, and when she was five the family court decided that her grandmother would raise her.

We hear from a source that although Saleisha has indeed signed her Elite contract and strolled through their New York office, she won't be hitting the New York Fashion Week circuit - in fact, the agency won't even be sending her on runway castings. Also, although Elite models are routinely signed for three-year contracts, the binding papers for the Top Model winner may be a shorter one-year agreement. So what will Saleisha be doing instead of fashion shows and castings? "Press appointments and Cover Girl filming takes up the bulk of her first few months," says the source, "And then it's more likely she'll go out for sportswear campaigns, like Jaslene Gonzales did last year." Meanwhile, Elite has another relative newbie who actually could be America's next top model - their fifteen-year-old foundling, Karlie Kloss, is on the cover of Teen Vogue this month with Chanel Iman and Ali Michael.

| Re: Saleisha - Cycle 9 It'd be funny if they dropped her and signed all the other girls instead.

| Re: Saleisha - Cycle 9 i swear that the director of elite was payed to say he liked saleisha.... like most people were saying earlier, an agent for an agency like elite, wouldn't even be allowed to send saleisha on go-sees... and look what's happening... |

| Re: Saleisha - Cycle 9 Well I think the fact that they shortened her contract says a lot. It's not about her being black and the blackout in the industry. They could send her out to do things other than runway castings. She's really a pretty girl, just so forgettable. She should try acting or something. Who knows though maybe people will see her in the Paris show for C. Quen and book her! |

| Re: Saleisha - Cycle 9 Definately not the whole 'blackout' thing. Had Danielle been awarded a contract with elite in cycle 6, she would most likely still be with them. If Ebony and Eugena had won their cycles, they would have both done much better with Elite than Saleisha will, since they both a have a high fashion model-look going on, are both pretty photogenic(Eugena started improving towards the end) have great walks, bodies, and are tall. |
