Saleisha - Cycle 9

saleisha has definitely improved throughout the competition. but i still don't think she has what it takes to become ANTM. an ordinary model? i'll accept that. but a TOP model? i just don't think she'll make it.

if she wins, that means the best girl did not win.

I agree, she improve, but her improvement it's not enough, and she's not consistent, because she's better one day and the other day getting worse again..

the only thing improved on her is her makeup and her profiling pictures BECAUSE of the makeup, other than that that's about it.
... the only one improving is Chantal.

I don't see much improvement.
In her Great Wall photo she looks as if she's saying to Tyra, "Is this right?" Her left arm is just hanging in the air, and what little neck she has is swallowed up by the costume.
Group shot: Tyra gave the prime spot, but it doesn't help. She's just staring at the camera.
Lions & Dragons: Pose is unnatural and stiff, almost no expression in the face. Had Nigel pulled back as far as he did with Heather and the blondes, she probably would have been lost.
Cover Girl: As someone else pointed out, she looks almost like she's drunk. Pose is a variation on high school yearbook.
Burning Car: Not bad, but there are other poses besides the editorial-pigeon-toed-stance.
Recycling: Almost no expression in the face. Editorial-pigeon-toed-pose again.
Gargoyles: She looks bloated and almost old. Had she put her hand to her forehead I might have mistaken her for Jade. Editorial-pigeon-toed-pose, slightly angled.
Flora: The shot that should have sent her home. Eyes completely dead, no expression, looks like she's adjusting her panties.
Rock wall: Fails to sell the dress and her face is a blank.
Smoking: Bad, bad, bad acting.
Misc: Had I not known that she was in the Wendy's commercial and the Rami Kashou show on "Tyra," I never would have noticed her.
Miss J is the only judge who comes close to being honest about this girl's potential. He's going along with the charade, but he's being extremely reserved about it. I can't remember one enthusiastic comment from him.

For the great wall shoot...the same arguments could be made about Chantal...her body's good, but you can hardly see her face...and Jenah looks too posey..Which warrior would pose like that, with one leg up in the air?
ALso in the group pic, granted Saleisha is not at her best there, but Chantal looks like she's going to sneeze and Jenah's giving her usual "Jenah face" with the squinty eyes and 'shtrong' tough girl look.
It seems to have become fashionable to criticize Saleisha.She's not my fave girl but I do think there's some improvement!

I totally agree. I'm not the biggest Saleisha fan, but it's mostly because I think she's being allowed to bypass the ANTM eligibility rules (or at least not being held to the same standard of rules as the other candidates), however I totally agree that her fans on FoRT are enthusiastic but not pushy about it. Saleisha has some very loyal fans here, and that's terrific.

She is not my most favorite (Chantal is),but I also agree that Saleisha has made the most improvement. Her runway walk is quite fierce and her pictures have come a long way from the beginning. Jenah takes great pictures, and I see major dental work in her future along with a stylist to help her stay away from that "I just crawled out of bed look." All three of these girls are worthy of the win. Good luck to all!

This happens pretty consistently. A lot of people think that the best girl never wins. Out of 9 cycles, I only agreed with Adrianne as ANTM (and that's only because Elyse was already eliminated before the final 2). I thought the other 7 completed cycles either eliminated the best girl before the final 2 or picked the opposite winner of who I thought it should be.

Of course, I don't get invited to judging panel, so.....

Wouldn't that be cool? To have a "real" person, an individual fan, sit in on the judging panel each week? A different fan each week. I could probably be almost as unbiased as Tyra and Nigel are.

I understand MANY people favor Natasha/Renee/Brit to Jaslene, but saying that she is worse than Saleisha is like... almost sacreligious. Jaslene was occasionally able to take an extremely stunning, interesting, and unique photo. Even Saleisha's best photo's have yet to measure up to Jaslene's mediocre Ice Cream and Covergirl pictures IMO. Same with Naima. And furthermore, Jaslene has been killing it post show with some magazine covers, a billboard in Times Square, some pretty prestigious runway shows in fashion week, or even being included in Elite's show package for fashion week, which no previous winner has achieved, and scoring some not so bad ads if I may say so my self, the most recent being Guess, and DKNY. I doubt Saleisha will even come near that.

Back to the topic of Saleisha, I can't help but feel that based on the way things occurred at judging for the past 6 or 7, Tyra has been literally trying to convince us to like Saleisha. And while we may hate her, somehow, someway, the guy from Elite liked her, the people from covergirl liked her, and the woman from Seventeen liked her, not to mention Nigel, Tyra, and miss J seems to like her walk...Ugh... Now Twiggy is the only voice of reason, who has been actively campaigning for Jenah. Ms J also seemed to like her a bit.

Trust me, I know models aren't usually pretty, they're edgy and unique, and those are the kinds of models I favor, but Jaslene is not edgy and unique in a modelesque way, she's just ugly IMO
So, point being, while Saleisha is nothing interesting, at least she doesn't have any awful features like Jaslene's chin, Jaslene's nose, Jaslene's... well, FACE!
I just think Saleisha would be a mediocre choice
Tyra said in the beginning of the cycle that modeling is not a beauty pageant and that she looks for girls with contraversial or debatable beauty
Saleisha, with the exception of the hair, looks like she could have walked right out of a beauty pageant and the only thing contraversial about her is the ridiculous extent to which Tyra is giving her underserved praise
Chantal is also very pageant-like and doesn't fit this title well
I think Jenah is the perfect choice for this title

the problem with Jaslene is the fact she isn't modelesque, at least saleisha is... and Jaslene also have the same facial expressions (Controversial Issues, High School Cliche's, Aboriginal or like Crime Scenes and Ice Cream), jaslene had that terrible accent, that dragness, the height...

Well my point was that Jaslene isn't pretty in person, but she has the talent to play up her features, and sometimes hide them when the time is right. I mean, I understand the misunderstanding here. I love Jaslene and you hate Jaslene, so it would be pointless for me to try to convince you that Jaslene is better.

Another reason why I hate Saleisha is because her name is so annoying to type!
