Re: Victoria - Cycle 9

Victoria didn't say that practice was "beneath her" at all. She said that she wasn't going to practice because she usually does better just winging it.

I'm not on the defense solely because I'm a Victoria fan-- What bothers me about the opposing argument is that it makes the "Fashion Experts" of Top Model into holier-than-thou figures, and that disgusts me, to be frank. People are ripping on Victoria for thinking she's above Tyra for going to Yale (a big presumption, BTW), but nobody is looking at how Tyra and company assume that their experience in the ultimately useless fashion industry makes them better people than other girls, and furthermore, gives them the right to make judgments about the character of others. I'm aware it's part of judging and whatnot, but I have a really hard time believing that everyone going against Victoria would react so passively in her situation.

I think the judges tend to be ridiculous and think they can figure out a girl as they see fit. I think they were all wrong, the judges for being so defensive and Victoria for thinking shehad to have the upper hand.

She didn't say she was better at "winging it" she said she'd rather wing it instead of practicing. Do you think Victoria is they type to "wing" things she cares about? I doubt she "wings" it when it comes to her education and studies.

Like when she was kicked off she said something like "I guess there is more to modeling than just sitting around and being pretty." You think someone who said that doesn't look down on modeling?

Another thing… people seem to acknowledge and don’t dispute the Victoria voting at panel thing, yet you didn’t see it, I didn’t see it. Why?... editing... how is it you can admit they took out an entire section, yet they couldn’t manipulate footage to portray a person as a character? How about how they can take, oh what is it like six or twelve hours of panel deliberation and edited to fifteen minutes? If I follow you with a camera and happen to record you looking at your shoes to see they are unlaced, take that small moment. Stretch it out. Play some sad music; suddenly you look unconfident and depressed.

Editing is a marvelous tool. The great polish director Kieslowski said his favorite thing was not directing but editing, because that’s where you really tell the story. I’d suggest renting his last movie red, it’ll show you the powers of editing in one wonderfully section on the DVD...

Don't understand the beef with her.. Its suppose to find a model, and she was a natural model... but all people are focusing in on, are that she had an attitude? If she was bad model, then yes go crazy, I would be right there with you, if she didn’t have the potential physically ala jasline or caridee... yes even more so, but Victoria did have potential in both the looks: in person and on film.... shouldn’t we be angry that another creditable model has left the building when girls that wouldn’t make it in the real world remain in the house.

after the edit they gave melrose and every other girl on the show, don't understand how people can still fall for it everytime
Well said, Mondotrasho. Most people don't seem to understand how sophisticated editing can be.

I laugh every time someone brings up that fact that Victoria kept interrupting Twiggy. Maybe she did. Maybe she didn't. But we'll never really know, because it's entirely possible to create that illusion with editing.

She obviously said the things she said. Whether they were in response to the judging comments they were edited with, God only knows. There was undoubtedly some tension there, because the judges talked about their reactions to some of her behavior, but I believe her when she says that some of the conversations shown on TV never took place.

Well, she looked down on modelling but she never acted like it was beneath her. Instead, she probably did not want to over analyse the entire shoot when she said she wanted to 'wing' it. But i'm not her and neither are any of us. So who knows her real intentions were. It's not right to say she doesn't care about modelling or thinks its beneath her just because of the statement.

Also, editing is smart. They may just cut a girl off mid-sentence. Like "I thought she was horrible.." without the "but she tried really hard and i hope she has a good picture." It changes the entire tone of the sentence.

I do think she was edited this way just to give a reason for her elimination. I mean, the entire hand voting thing and shoe thing is GREAT for television, but they weren't shown. Perhaps to show Tyra is a better light, i don't know.

And she did not say anything or stand up for Heather but isn't that better than making fun of her? She just chose not to be part of the drama just like how everyone likes avoiding conflicts. Its just her way of handling the situation i guess.

Really??
I think her asking the girls to vote would have made Victoria look real bad, because just hearing about it makes her sound very bratty. For example, it makes me want to say to her, " just stfu already and give it a rest."
They were kind to leave that on the editing room floor.

I know, but do any of you think that when she graduates from Yale she will start pursuing modeling?

Re: Victoria - Cycle 9

I had a problem with Victoria's attitude, but I'm a wee bit older than the girls, and I also think that it behooves anyone trying to get into a business to listen to professionals who are already in and successful in the business.

That being said, I thought she was a mediocre model. Loved the rock climbing photo, hated the others. That's why I would've voted her off.

But it will definitely leave the judges and Tyra looking stumped cause she would have proven them wrong. And we all know the judges are always right
