It is pretty arbitrary. A butterfly dies in the South of France and Kate Moss becomes a supermodel, right? It is all about being just what feels right in the right place at the right time, but it would be silly to pretend it isn't so to some degree with... everything. Literature, science, art, politics, could we have another Shakespeare today? The point is people were tired of the 80s goddesses, and a petite, freckle-faced girl with crooked teeth was refreshing. Not to say that Kate Moss isn't special in her own right; she knows how to create a compelling image.

My friend made me watch the Family Guy episode with a cartoon Kate Moss, because she knew I liked fashion models: "Are you Kate Moss? For someone with no breasts, you've done very well for yourself. Good for you."

One of my latest favourites is Lisa Cant.
The top picture is from the latest American Vogue. (It's a great spread with Gemma, Daria, Liya & Karen Elson in it as well).

With the exception of the picture posted above, I found that spread pretty unimpressive modeling-wise. They all looked awkward for such pros, especially Karen Elson. I love Lisa Cant, though.

Lisa Cant and Erin Wasson in Chanel HC Spring 2005 -
My perfect little elves.

I know what you mean. When the "problems" first started it was a sort of "Oh models will be models!" kinda of dismissal thing. But once she hit her maid...I was seriously just disgusted. Didn't mean to overload the snark though Sorry about that.

We shall have to disagree. I love the colours and layout of the shoot especially.

I like the colors, too! That's why I specified the modeling. Some of Lisa Cant and Gemma Ward were cute, but I thought most of the girls' expressions were so blah... Maybe I just wish they would bring in some fresher faces into American Vogue (always Gemma Ward, Liya Kebede, et al., every issue, gets a bit dull).

I did like this picture from an issue past (Chanel). I bought a shirt similar to Hana's white dress with the bell sleeves and loose crochet detailing. From a recycled clothes store...

I'm procrastinating on my midterms, so here are some pics of Hana backstage.
She is the cutest thing to me :

I know that I have said this before, but I'll say it again:

Lisa Cant looks soo much like Alexis Bledel it's uncanny sometimes. Especially in the Chanel ad. Is that Jessica Stam on Lisa's left?

She does look like Alexis Bledel. One of the reasons I love her.

I'm pretty sure that is Stam on Lisa's left.

OH MY GOD THIS PICTURE IS TERRIFYING.

I'm used to seeing skinny models all the time and usually it doesn't phase me but... please God, someone get that girl a sandwich or 10! She's so skeletal that even if she doesn't have an eating disorder, she's become painful to look at.

I thought it was Caroline Trentini, but I could be worng.

I too love that Chanel ad, but I have one issue. Standing next to all those girls Karen Elson look like...their mom. Sometime I love Karen Elson's sophisticated appeal, but sometimes I just don't get her.
