Actually she is a model. Aishwarya also won Miss World in 1994. No one's disobeying the rules-she started her career modeling (here's a bio if you want to read...http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0706787/) after architecture school. I love her-she's my favorite model-drop dead gorgeous. Puts a lot of models to shame-I know modeling isn't all about beauty. I think she has more than beauty; she's captivating and unique.

She's still around - I read about her in the British press. She's more a celebrity model nowadays then anything though, doing stuff like appearing in skimpy Henshall dresses at premieres etc. Plus she has some polo company or other.

I love so many of the models already mentioned!

Devon Aoki is just fabulous and so unique and striking-- almost to the point of grotesquerie sometimes, yes, but still gorgeous. Even when she's ugly, you can't take your eyes off of her!

Tiiu Kuik has an amazing angelic face and the best skin I've ever seen in my ENTIRE LIFE-- I hear she's up for a Covergirl contract because of that.

And Ai Tominaga makes up for a lack of "traditional" beauty with extraordinary cheekbones and an innate sense of cool that CANNOT be taught. Ai is actually pregnant now with her fiancee's child... and I cannot wait to see her again in campaigns and catwalks! Her Gucci Eu de Perfume campaign was stunner.

I especially LOVE freckled models with gorgeous, high cheekbones. Cintia Dicker (already mentioned) is an amazingly gorgeous young model... I can't wait till she matures and looks more womanly. Here she is burning up the catwalk in 2005.

Polina Kouklina is lovely, just lovely. She rocks the waifish and delicate look without being at all precious or too delicate looking.

And former Guess model Megan Ewing (also in my icon) is little known and little used but amazingly lovely! I'm just completely enarmored with how fragile she looks without being a waif...

Oh, I know, but nothing like before. I think she was once called one of the three greatest British models (along with Naomi and Kate, I guess?) Do you really see that much of her at events? It seems like mostly her sister.

Jodie is supposed to be a great polo player now, though. As long as she's happy, I'm happy for her.

Well, I don't personally see her

But she comes up not infrequently. Her sister has actually moved to NYC so she is not in the British press very much.

Mariagoner - Megan Ewing is very pretty. Too bad she's not used more widely.
Speaking of that, whatever happened to Lonneke? You really only see her in the Ralph Lauren ads now, though I recently saw her on the cover of a British magazine called B (think Seventeen but for the 20something crowd). Here's a pic to jog some memories:

Too funny that so many people are liking this woman. I saw her on 60 Minutes a couple of weeks ago and was just struck, absolutely beautiful inside and out. I'm actually going to see her movie tonight, Bride and Prejudice.

Just want to clarify that she was a model first, then a pageant girl, then an actress. So she does belong in this thread. Not all "real" models are muses for Balenciaga or the new face of Dior, and it would a shame to exclude Aishwarya from this thread on a such a trifling technicality.
