| I think both Eva and Yaya are divas, in their own ways. They both have strong personalities, strong senses of self, know they're gorgeous, and like to be the center of attention. But there are also big differences, and I think those differences are why I've completely changed my allegiances between these two girls, why I've come to like Eva so much, and I've basically moved into the "Anyone But Yaya" camp at this point (although if it comes down to Yaya and Amanda in the final two, I'm gonna root for Empress Minnie to win). I give Yaya credit, she does great photos, but she needs a serious personality transplant. While Eva is a diva, the girl has a sense of humor, which extends to self-deprication, as well as a sense of her own personal vulnerability. Those qualities temper the diva qualities, make her eminently more likeable. Who else but Eva would have responded "We're all equally annoying." Its a really street smart answer, incorporating the coaching she was given, but also delivered with humorous impact. I have enormous respect for how she handled the tarantula situation. Not only was she terrorized by the thought of the tarantula, but everybody, from the other girls to the alleged professionals, were taking pokes at her, completely making fun of her fears, and she didn't strike back at one of them. She did lose her focus and start to tear up during the photo shoot, which interrupted things, but she apologized with grace, pulled herself together, and kept trying until they pulled the plug. The girl is a TROUPER, and her picture was FIERCE. Yaya by contrast, is extremely sensitive to every perceived criticism. I didn't realize at the time, but Yaya's comment about the no-makeup beauty shot as a "personal attack on Yaya" was really prophetic. EVERYTHING for this girl is a personal attack. The criticism of the "earth momma"/"African" clothes wasn't just an attack on her sense of chic, but on her very essence. She not only did take it as a personal attack, when it obviously wasn't, but unfortunately, as I have often observed, the people who are most sensitive about their own feelings are often the ones who are the most insensitive towards the sensibilities of others. Yaya, smart as she is, just doesn't have a clue how off-putting and offensive she is towards others, intended or not. And worse, she doesn't even have much of a sense of humor to temper her more pompous side, to see the lighter side of things. Which is too bad, because a good dose of humor and perspective would not only make her more likeable to others, but would probably enable her to enjoy things more. |

| Very well put. You really nailed the crux of the issue. I've flip-flopped on these two, as well, and for exactly the same reasons. Eva still needs a few years of maturing, but I see her as having more potential to grow into an attractive woman than Yaya at this point. You have to be able to recognize your own weaknesses before you can grow out of them. It's easier for me to envision Eva maturing out of her arrogance than Yaya.

| Eva is starting to grow on me. I forgot she's only 19 years old and a lot of her personality traits that I initially found so annoying may just be immaturity. I know I didn't have a clue when I was 18-19 who I was, and Eva has an incredibly strong sense of herself at such an early age. She won even more respect from me during the tarrantula shoot, how she pulled herself together for the shot. If it were me and my worst phobia (roaches) I don't think I would have been able to pull it together. Seeing roaches on TV make me cry, their antenas - - - OMG OK lets change the subject!!! |

| i just can't get behind eva's personality. it's not that she's a bitch (she was to amy but she seems to have moved past that). she's just incredibly loud, and i guess i get pretty easily annoyed by loud people. i also don't see what's so special about her pictures. |

| I like that while she is able to give the photographer what s/he wants, a spark of her personality shines through in her pictures. Now that she seems to be catching a clue about how to pose without flaring her nostrils, I think her face is lovely. I think Yaya and Ann have more classically beautiful faces, and I think Yaya has a stronger portfolio at this point. But Eva seems to be gaining momentum. I think she will win.

| I find it a little odd that people compare Ya-ya and Elyse get compared as I see more of a similarity between Eva and Elyse. They are both humorous and insightful, and intriguing. Yes, Ya-ya and Elyse are both bright and educated, but they handle those things so differently. |

| And to give Eva a little more credit, she is two or three years younger than Yaya, we have no idea what she'll be like in two or three years, but I personally suspect she'll be ahead of Yaya in terms of her personal growth. Given that Yaya couldn't even contain herself with what she perceived as "personal attacks" or having her Afrocentricity "misunderstood", if the tables were turned, and they had to pose with something that terrified Yaya like a snake or roaches or whatever, and everyone else was mocking her and dogging her, I can't see Yaya handling it with such grace and personal aplomb. Its actually very ironic that Yaya keeps harping on about the immaturity of the other girls (which, admittedly, they are) when she's suffering from a major form of immaturity herself, namely, the inability to work and play well with others. Its even more ironic when you think about the profession she's trying to pursue now, namely modelling, and I seem to recall she mentioned diplomacy as a potential profession, although I can't find the footage, when she's said she has little toleration for fakeness, she's called the modelling world "superficial", she doesn't want to compromise, etc. HELLO? The modelling world is all about shallowness, fakeness, superficiality, bizarre people who may not be as "smart" as you, and for that matter, and for that matter, so is the world of international relations. But I have this incredibly strong feeling that Eva is going to win. She photographs well, she does the runway pretty well, she's got personality, charisma, presence, enthusiasm, a sense of humor, she's quick witted, she is the kind of person you'd be interested in seeing on Jay Leno's couch. But more than that, she has an interesting story (maybe not as "interesting" as Amanda's, but still interesting). Both of the previous winners had an interesting storyline, Adrienne as the quirky, rebellious girl from the wrong side of the tracks who turned into a swan, Yoanna as the nerdy fashion-crazed babysitter who lost 60 pounds to go for the gold on ANTM. |
