7/29 Show Discussion **SPOILERS** (AGT 2008)

Anybody watching this? It's kind of a yawn.

But the guy doing the Ozzy impression was pretty funny, as was Sharon's banter with him.

So the auditions are finally over, , I think they went on way too long IMO.

Re: 7/29 Show Discussion **SPOILERS** (AGT 2008)

So exactly how many performance shows will there be? I think they needed only 3 or 4 audition shows, and we should have been heading into the home stretch by now. I know that I will be watching Olympics instead of AGT, unless the only sports on are those I don't care about, like basketball...and even then, I tend to watch it during the Olympics.

I thought the army guy was good--Piers is a stupid ass if he thinks that nobody ever has a bad note. But as has been said before, there are no "wow" acts, at least none that we've been able to see. I'm sure that the Vegas rounds will bring some acts that we haven't seen yet.

One blessing; no Leonid!

ETA: Well duh, the show is on the same network as the Olympics, so it obviously won't be on during that time, will it? I guess there will be 3 1/2 hours of the show next week, presumably to wrap it up before the OG start. So did we suffer through 7 weeks of crappy auditions just for two nights of actual competition?

I think it was sad that Leonid wasn't on this year. He is one flashy dude!! I wonder where he parked himself?! I hoped they wouldn't hurry this through and would show the finals after the Olympics.

I believe he got a show in Vegas too, but it's with a chincy casino....i.e. nothing like where Terry Fator is at. I hope he makes it long term.

Re: 7/29 Show Discussion **SPOILERS** (AGT 2008)

I have not seen anyone close to the talent of Terry Fator so far. Are there any surprises out there I missed? I have not seen every show.

I was stunned they put those kids through. Sure they were cute and sung well for their age but a finalist for a Vegas gig??!! Why do that?

There were quite a few put through that left me scratching my head. The military guy is one. Great that you are defending our country, blah, blah, blah, but if you cannot win favor without the uniform then, no.

I didn't see any singer who could hold their own in a one man show. Same thing with the impressionists. Looking like Brittany and lip syncing is just not enough. I suppose she could be part of a bigger act but worth a million? No. Loved him though. Tina, absoultely not; just another drag act. And Frank? No way.

But I have not seen every show so I may have missed some fabulous act. Someone tell me there are some talented people I missed. Please.

I personally liked the male and female singers. I think they included the little ones for the audience "awwww" factor. Some of the dance groups were pretty good, too. I thought the country small town girl was ok, but she thought, I think, she was going to be the next "Loretta Lynn". The funniest for me was the magician whose curtain messed up, and he pretended that it was part of the act. Wow-the chutzpah!

I get the awwwwwww factor element but I thought the finals were for those who may have a shot at getting a gig in Vegas. I can see carrying them along for awhile but now is the time to focus on who could actually win the thing.

Re: 7/29 Show Discussion **SPOILERS** (AGT 2008)

Last night was the cut from @100 acts to 60 acts. On Thurs. 8/7, they will cut from 60 to the 40 acts who will go to Hollywood to perform.

I would bet that the "kids" will be cut on Thurs. And so will the Army guy and a few of the impersonators. They will have to get serious when they get down to the 40 acts that will go to the performance shows.

I agree: they really dragged out the audition shows. It is probably a "scheduling" thing, so that they could start the performance shows AFTER the Olympics are over. I hope the show gets a lot better then. I am tired of all the tears and drama!
