Just saw another wonderful clip from this show. Look up the clip of Madonna Decena. The singing was beautiful, and the backstory was especially poinant.

I read that the ones who move to the next round of competition will take place May 24. The show itself will be May 26 and the final will by May 31.

Britain's Got Talent choirboy Andrew Johnston signs £1m record deal

Britain's Got Talent choirboy Andrew Johnston has signed a £1 million deal with Simon Cowell's record label.

The 13-year-old with the voice of an angel will release his first album later this year.

Andrew melted hearts when he sang Pie Jesu on the ITV talent show, reducing judge Amanda Holden to tears.

He came third in the Britain's Got Talent final earlier this month, behind dance duo Signature and eventual winner George Sampson, and exited the stage in floods of tears.

But he is all smiles now after landing the deal with Cowell's SyCo label, a subsidiary of music giant Sony BMG.

"I can't believe it. I'm so excited. It's a dream come true," Andrew said.

A spokesperson for SyCo said: "We are absolutely delighted to be working with Andrew. He is incredibly talented and has huge potential."

An insider said the multi-album deal is worth in the region of £1 million, although Andrew's earning potential may be restricted by the fact that his voice will break in the next few years.

His first appearance on Britain's Got Talent drew inevitable comparisons with Aled Jones.

He is the second runner-up to get a deal, after Cowell snapped up classical quartet Escala. The music mogul is also in negotiations with schoolgirl singer Faryl Smith.

Andrew's performances on the show have been viewed over 15 million times on YouTube.

He is currently appearing on the nationwide Britain's Got Talent tour and will begin work on his album as soon as it comes to an end.

Love that the ones who were crowd favorites get to go on tour. I would pay to see the ones they have performing!

I guess Simon learned a lesson from last season, i.e. sign the kids!

I'm glad I'm not alone. I teared up as well! Can't wait to see her future performances. I hope she doesn't disappoint.

I loved both her singing and the look on Simon's face when she started her performance!

Re: Britain's Got Talent 2008

It seems like in the news coverage that this woman is getting, the "don't judge a book by its cover" them seems to be the talk. But to me, that doesn't tell the story of why its so special. To me, the reason why I sit there watching it with a huge smile on my face is that its one of those moments when you're witnessing a dream coming true. It's the same kind of emotion that you feel when you see someone achieve at the Olympics or something like that. She's this simple, basic woman who had a dream to sing in front of a large audience. It's a basic dream, but one that is totally outlandish for a simple woman like her. But in that clip, that dream is realized. Anything that happens to her from this point forward is icing on the cake that goes far beyond anything she ever dreamed of - but in that moment, she got to experience what she'd imagined in her mind as a silly outlandish idea that would never happen. That's why it's special ... not the superficial "look how ugly she is, oh look she can sing" that many are labelling it as.
