TAR5 is shaping up to be the most rugged and demanding season of this long-running reality TV show. At the same time, the destinations are comparatively more priceless considering the fact that the racers went to at least three countries with high historical value: Egypt (the pitstop in the Sphinx/Pyramids must have given them an absolute high), Russia (gaining entry, albeit brief, to the Hermitage Museum is a real treat as this is not as frequently visited as the Louvre in Paris), and Tanzania (getting an aerial view of world-renowned Mt. Kilimanjaro is simply breathtaking). What's more, the teams were able to visit Dubai in the UAE - one of the few places in the Middle East that is so well-developed but not part of most international tourists' trip itinerary. Their visits to Argentina and Uruguay are a steal because, on their own, these would be expensive locations to go to. On the other hand, the Auckland leg is like icing on the cake because of the country's reputation for extreme sports, while Manila and Palawan serve as reminders that there is more to Asia than meets the eye.
All things considered, the final 3-4 teams (even including the Twins) for TAR5 definitely had a wild, enjoyable free ride to different parts of the world they are not likely to prioritize in their personally-financed travels.
