The Nielsen Ratings for last night (July 31) were down ever so slightly compared to last week.
According to Nielsen Fast National Ratings, TAR4 scored a 5.4 rating and 10 share at 8:00, improving to a 5.8 / 10 at 8:30. Of note, TAR4 has never had its second half-hour fare worse than its first half-hour.
The 5.4 / 10 is actually higher than last weeks 5.3 / 10 at 8:00; however, that 5.8 / 10 is down from last weeks 6.0 / 11. When you combine the two scores, TAR4 is down only .1 of a ratings point, about 100,000 people out of more than 8 million.
Unfortunately, the news isn't as good among adults 18-49 years old. Last weeks scores were 3.1 (at 8:00) and 3.6 (at 8:30). Compare that to last nights 2.9 and 3.1 respectively. However, this is the sixth (yes, sixth) time that TAR4 has scored a 3.1 at 8:30. (Likewise, the second half-hour has always outperformed the first.) That 2.9 rating at 8:00 is the best since the third episode on June 12.
Of interest is the fact that both 'Friends' and 'Scrubs' on NBC were up compared with last week. 'Friends' was up .3 and 'Scrubs' was up .6 of a ratings point. Both shows also showed improvement in 18-49 demos, perhaps the reason behind the small (emphasis on 'small') drop in TAR4's numbers last night. 'Scrubs' was up 1 whole point in the demographic.
What is the verdict from last night? TAR4 proves its consistency, despite losing a few viewers, its drop isn't dramatic, especially since that 5.8 rating at 8:30 (disregarding last weeks numbers) is the best since a 6.0/11 scored on the second episode on June 5.
